Workshop on ‘Awareness and Prevention of Drug Abuse’

Indian Red Cross Society conducted a workshop at N.K Bagrodia Public School, Sec 4, Dwarka on ‘Awareness and Prevention of Drug Abuse ‘ for classes IX and X on 24th April 2018. The main focus of the session was to create an awareness among the teenagers to understand drugs abuse and also to keep themselves safe in the most swaying environment.

Mr. Neelmani Sharma, the Programme Incharge commenced the session with an insight into the birth of the Red Cross Society in 1859 by a Swiss man Henry Dunant. The students were apprised with the function of the society throughout the world which consists of 100 million members. A video clipping comprising a short movie of a talented teenager was shown who gets trapped into the net of drug addiction. It was an eye opening and stirring documentary for the students to analyse and understand how the life gets completely ruined if get addicted to drugs. Later Mr. Jai discussed in length about the Drugs and their function, reasons to fall prey to drugs and the preventions.

Mrs. Shalini Singh, a psychologist spoke about the ways to detect addicted teenagers and to bring them back to the normal life . This was followed by a questionnaire session where the students raised their doubts and queries. The session culminated with the brief address of the school Principal, Dr. (Mrs.) Rajee N Kumar who enlightened the students by her valuable words on drug abuse and motivated them to stay away from it.
