Blood Donation Camp at Sri VIS, Sector 18, Dwarka

“Tears of a mother cannot save a child, but the blood can.”
Intended as a service for the  humanity,  a blood donation camp was organised at Sri venkateshwar International School, Sector 18, Dwarka, New Delhi  in association with Rotary Club and SVIS Health and Wellness Programme- Orange Cross on 7th July’10.

The event was a step to imbue the members of SVIS family with   feelings of brotherhood and oneness. The Hon’ble Guests of the day who motivated the donors were Sh. Rajpal Solanki, the visionary Chairman of Venkateshwar Group of Schools, Sh. Rajesh Gehlot, the Deputy Mayor of Delhi, Mr. Sailander Solanki, Chairman Sri VIS, Mr. Kamal Solnaki, Manager Finance VIS and Ms. Nita Arora, Principal.

The Deputy Mayor, the school chairman and the school principal were among the first volunteers to carry out the noble deed.  Mr Rajpal had donated the blood a fortnight ago only,  so was seen motivating the donors.

There was a generous participation from the parents, faculty and other volunteers from the office of the Municipal Councillor & Dy. Mayor, Sh. Rajesh Gehlot.

More than 125 volunteers got themselves registered and got their blood groups and haemoglobin levels group checked. It was an eye-opener for those, who could not donate in spite of registering because of lower Hb levels or high blood pressure. They made a promise to themselves that they will revert to healthy life style and follow the advice of the nutritionists & doctors.

The camp could manage 50 units. The donors were felicitated with a ‘Certificate of Appreciation’ and a gift by the Rotarians.
Apart from the collection of blood, the camp also succeeded in spreading awareness that a healthy adult can donate 3-4 times in a year. The doctors and staff of Rotary Club and Orange Cross extended their fullest cooperation in making the camp a success. `Slogan writing competition’  was also an integral part of the camp, in which  Arnav Shokeen of Pre-Primary parents were adjudicated the winner for the slogan,

“Tears of a mother cannot save a child, but the blood can.”
The  SVIS faculty believes that voluntary blood donation costs nothing but repays back the donors  a great feeling of pleasure, peace and bliss.
