NKBPS, Dwarka transforms Waste to Utility

“Every little step counts, we have made a small beginning”

N.K.Bagrodia Public School, Dwarka has taken up an initiative of recycling its waste, which mainly comprises of papers, leftover food from the lunch boxes, used aluminium foil and pencil shavings. The main objective of the waste collection is to sensitize the youth on the importance of natural resources and waste minimization. All the classes collect their waste in separate boxes mainly for waste paper, aluminium foil, pencil shaving and fruit peels. The school has a compost pit wherein all the organic waste is collected. Recycling turns things into utility items which is like a magic. This helps students understand the need to reduce, reuse, recycle and rethink.

Keeping this in mind, students of Primary wing were given a platform to exhibit their creative talent on Christmas Eve ‘as it is a season of giving and sharing’— by making Christmas tree using waste paper, aluminium foil, pencil shaving. The children participated earnestly in the fun-filled activity and came up with amazing ideas. The objective of the activity was to create love for environment by making best out of waste with the help of recyclable things. The students used a variety of resources like old newspapers, wrinkled old wrapping papers and old cartons to create something new, creative and decorative. Little Bagrodians and their imaginative minds came together in a creative burst of energy to create the ‘Tree of Ecstasy’ on the occasion of Christmas Eve. The glistening Christmas trees along with snowman looked spectacular and awe-inspiring.

In today’s world recycling has a very important place not only to teach young students importance of recycling but also to make them aware about environmental issues.
