The dreadful nights, the weary evenings,
\nBomb explosions, the lootings and the killings,
\nFire all around and blood strained streets,
\nAnger, anguish, terror and bestiality had reduced
\nMan to a mere play thing, stultified administration,
\nThe bond of love that binds humanity and
\nInduces national integration – was shredded to the core,
\nFrenzied manifestation of intimidatory tactics,
\nAll newspapers splashed nothing but massacres,
\nOf innocent people relating to one community,
\nAnd the wild tempest uprooted many big trees in quick succession\u2026\u2026\u2026.
\nAnd all human hearts yearning to get rid of —-
\nDeadly fangs of terrorism spread unwarranted !<\/p>\n

Experiment after experiment failed to check the menace,
\nAll Mechiavellian manoeuvres flopped to click,
\nAnd the entire Punjab continued to bleed profusely\u2026\u2026\u2026
\nSnatching sons of soil from the lap of mother earth,
\nExtinguishing fire from the hearths,
\nWidowing hundreds of young brides, and
\nOrphaning thousands of delicate and sweet buds \u2026\u2026\u2026<\/p>\n

But \u201cNoorpuri\u201d knows the length of a tunnel matters a little \u2026\u2026.
\nAs there dawns light at the end of each one,
\nWhence the dark clouds of uncertainty,
\nWill disappear — to pave way for the new hopes,
\nAspirations and events to make new history !!<\/p>\n

Amidst the religion in search of new domains,
\nAnd Punjab in search of new spearheading guards,
\nThere appeared on the horizon, with a missionary zeal \u2013
\nA dynamic star called – Beant Singh \u2026\u2026\u2026..<\/p>\n

With imperturbable and invulnerable will-power,
\nHe made a call to deglamorise militancy,
\nAnd realise the worth of priceless gift of God\u00a0,
\nHis supreme creation amongst all — called Man!!<\/p>\n

When others described the killers martyrs,
\nAnd attended \u201cmilitant sponsored\u201d Bhogs,
\nThis simple and unpretentious Beant Singh,
\nVisited the families of the gunned down,
\nConsoling, soothing and boosting their Morales,
\nAnd called the misguided youths \u2013–
\nTo abandon their mistaken and heinous paths \u2026\u2026\u2026<\/p>\n

For the good of their todays, and
\nTomorrows of the coming generations ;
\nAnd extend a helping hand in nation-building !!<\/p>\n

His marshal KPS Gill supported him full,
\nAnd on his strategic moves, deployed his skills,
\nThe daunting task with unflinching faiths,
\nLed the team to their cherished goals,
\nAnd soon the trigger-happy terrorists\u00a0–
\nWho were otherwise running the state,
\nWere now soon seen running for their lives !!<\/p>\n

Cornered by the compulsions and their stiff resistance by law,
\nThe oppressors now started distancing from arms,
\nAnd those frenetic and frigid met the fate \u2013
\nAnd tasted the bullets to pay the price !!<\/p>\n

Slowly, the tyrannical periods vanished away,
\nHeralding peace and prosperity everywhere,
\nThe harbinger of change, brought the freshening winds,
\nBanished fears from human hearts, and
\nPlanted therein, new hopes and aspirations ,
\nTranslated turmoils into lasting tranquillity,
\nBoosting again industrial revolution, generated
\nEmployment and agricultural growth, and
\nThe economy poised for a booming recovery,
\nAnd Punjab started soon regaining its lost glory\u2026\u2026\u2026<\/p>\n

He became a symbol of freedom, harbinger of democracy,
\nAnd beacon of long cherished hopes for the state;
\nHe proved no problem is big enough to escape solution,
\nProvided efforts are sincere and will-power strong !!<\/p>\n

I wonder, one Beant Singh solved such a gigantic problem;
\nAnd alleviated sufferings of the millions,
\nAcross the length and breadth of the country –
\nWhy can\u2019t the galaxy of other leaders solve
\nInnumerable problems afflicting the nation ?<\/p>\n

And help common people to get some reprieve,
\nAnd the youth get good jobs and society economic prosperity ?<\/p>\n

When Punjab resumed again taking glorious strides,
\nAnd people basking in the newly found spring,
\nAnd the valiant soldier who symbolised harmony and development,
\nFaced again the inhuman and ruffians\u2019 frenzy ——
\nAnd one dark evening eclipsed the shining star !!!<\/p>\n

\u201cOh dear Beant ! You may have parted ways from this mortal world,
\nBut your deeds shall remain enshrined and studded in our hearts \u2026\u2026.\u201d<\/p>\n

My stony eyes shed no tears for the demagogues,
\nBut on 31st August, 1995, were just uncontrollable,
\nAnd my painful heart was just inconsolable \u2026\u2026\u2026.
\nMy mind burning in grief and vision blurred in despair,
\nBecause thine death had created a vacuum ,
\nAnd plunged Punjab again in an unspeakable agony \u2026\u2026\u2026<\/p>\n

Oh God! He brought peace for the millions !<\/p>\n

Let his soul rest in peace !!
\nAnd increase his scarce tribe !!!
\nAnd enable my India to make progress and prosperity,
\nBy leaps and bounds and people get the much desired reliefs
\nAnd reprieve from innumerable sufferings and setbacks ……..<\/p>\n

Throw the dirty people of drugs trade into Indian ocean,
\nHelp the youth of Punjab to refrain from wine, drugs and intoxicants,
\nCreate millions of decent paying jobs for the youth,
\nAnd thereby, recreate a progressing and vibrant society,<\/p>\n

Which Punjab was once famous, forty fifty years ago !!!<\/p>\n
