The spiritual health is decided by the amount of time a person spends in parasympathetic mode. Spiritual prescriptions shifts one\u2019s awareness from the sympathetic to parasympathetic mode. Many such prescriptions are available in Vedic texts.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\nThe main prescription is the Vedic Expression described in&nbsp; the mool mantra: \u2018Om Satchitananda\u2019 where \u2018Sat\u2019 means \u2018truth\u2019, \u2018Chita\u2019 means \u2018consciousness-based\u2019 and \u2018Ananda\u2019 means \u2018inner happiness\u2019. It means that people in touch with their soul speak the truth, take consciousness based decisions and experience inner happiness.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\nThe great sages of India also described \u2018Satchitananda\u2019 as a formula for how to be in touch with one\u2019s consciousness and acquire inner happiness. This formula is based on asking three questions to oneself before performing any action. If the answer to any of the three questions is \u201cno\u201d, one should not perform that action. The three questions are:<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n1.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Is it the truth?<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n2.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Is it consciousness based?<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n3.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Will it give happiness?\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\nSome sages used the verb \u2018Satyam Shivam Sundaram\u2019 as an alternative to \u2018Satchitananda\u2019 which is again based on three questions.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n1.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Is it the truth?<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n2.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Is it God oriented (consciousness based)?<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n3.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Is it going to build my inner beauty (happiness)?<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\nTaking a consciousness-based decision was also inculcated into practice through the two mool mantras of Hindu mythology and they are the \u2018<em>Maha Mrityunjaya<\/em>\u2019 Mantra\u2019 and the \u2018Gayatri\u2019 Mantra, the two main prayers of the Vedas.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\nThe \u2018<em>Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra\u2019&nbsp;<\/em>begins with the phrase \u2018<em>Aum Tryambakam Yajamahe\u2019<\/em>meaning that we worship the Third-Eyed Shiva. Here, the Third Eye denotes the eye of the Mind and the Soul. One can open his or her third eye by thinking differently. So the Shiva mantra says that whenever in difficulty, one should think differently and ask the mind to look for other options.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\nWhen there are multiple options available, one needs to choose one option. Choosing the best of the options was defined in the Gayatri Mantra, which is a prayer where one requests God to direct the intellect to take the right decision. In other words, one should take consciousness-based decisions. The Western world simplified the above as the Formula of the three Hs (Head, Heart and Hand). According to this, before doing any action ask your Head for the choices, then listen to the Heart to give you the best consciousness-based advice and finally order the Hand to do the action.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\nThese formulae remained the backbone of Spirituality. But as the Yugas passed and one entered into Kalyuga, it became difficult for an ordinary man to know \u2018what is a consciousness-based decision\u2019.&nbsp; This formula therefore was modified by many as per the need of the society.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\nBuddha, in his teachings, made it simpler and defined the Buddha\u2019s Law of Action. He said before performing any action, ask yourself four questions. Again if the answer to any of the four is \u2018no\u2019, one should not do that action.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n1.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Is it the truth?<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n2.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Is it necessary?<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n3.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Will it bring happiness to me?<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n4.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; And will it bring happiness to others?<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\nHe differentiated actions from speech and defined Buddha\u2019s Law of Speech with only three questions.&nbsp; If the answer to any of the question is \u2018no\u2019, do not speak<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n1.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Is it the truth?<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n2.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Is it necessary?<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n3.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Is it kind?<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\nRotary International modified it slightly for the purpose of business ethics and drafted four questions and called them the \u2018Four-Way Test\u2019.&nbsp; If the answer to any of the answer is \u2018no\u2019, do not perform that action.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n1.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Is it the truth?<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n2.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Is it fair to all concerned?<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n3.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Will it build goodwill and better friendship?<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n4.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Will it be beneficial to all concerned?<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n\u2018May I help you?\u2019 is another formula now used by customer care industry. This has been derived from the \u2018Srimad Bhagwad\u2019, which says that one should offer help in day-to-day practice. When one agrees to help, one automatically fulfils all the four basic requirements of being a \u2018Satyugi\u2019 or a spiritual action. These are \u2018Satya\u2019 (truthful); \u2018Tapas\u2019 (hard work); \u2018Pavitrata\u2019 (purity of mind) and \u2018Daya and Daan\u2019 (charity and compassion).<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\nThe formula of \u201cI want peace\u201d is another simplified version of Vedic knowledge. All Gods teach us to relinquish ego and desires to acquire inner happiness. The simplified formula is to remember the three words \u2018I Want Peace\u2019 and to get peace, just get rid of \u2018I\u2019 (ego) and \u2018Want\u2019 (desires) and you will attain peace.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\nDeepak Chopra tells us how to make our soul profile and mission statement. Ask yourself seven questions while sitting in a meditative pose or in state of relaxation and focusing the awareness on the heart. The answer to each question should be either in three words or three phrases.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n1.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; What is my purpose of life?<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n2.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; What is my contribution going to be for my friends and family?<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n3.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Three instances in my life when I had my peak experiences.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n4.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Names of three people who inspire me the most.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n5.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Three qualities which I admire the most in others.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n6.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Three of my unique talents.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n7.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Three qualities I best express in my relationship.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\nThese twenty one answers will characterize one\u2019s soul profile and can be used as a passport for every action performed in life and to be used as a reference in any difficulty.&nbsp; The principle is that in everyday life, one should act from the Soul Profile and not from the Ego Profile. While the Soul profile cannot be manipulated, the Ego Profile can be.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\nMallika Chopra elaborates on how to use the soul profile while taking any actions. She describes the formula \u201cI AM\u201d in which before doing any action one should ask oneself \u2018Who I Am\u2019. This has to be used along with the profile one has listed using Deepak Chopra\u2019s questions above. She also narrates it as a method to be used in Pranayama where you speak the word \u2018I\u2019 during inspiration and \u201cAM\u2019 during expiration.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\nAll the \u2018Mahavakyas\u2019 (Great statements) of Vedic literature say that it\u2019s the same Soul which resides in every body. \u2018Tat Tvam Asi\u2019 is a Vedic phrase which literally means \u2018Thou art that\u2019. It describes that my soul and your soul are the same.
