\nA music programme \u2019EK SHAM RAFI KE NAAM\u201d was held to celebrate the 31st death anniversary of legendary singer Mohammad Rafi by Dwarka Kala Sangam at 6-00 PM on 31stJuly, 2011 at Natraj Sangeet Mahavidyalaya, D- 479 Palam Extension, Dwarka, New Delhi.<\/p>\n

To begin with Col.Aneja expressed his gratitude to the excellent arrangements made by Mr.& Mrs.Robin Sharma owners of Natraj Sangeet Mahavidyalaya for the function. The air-conditioned music hall was packed to capacity. Col.Aneja took the opportunity to brief the audience about the history, aims and the steady progress of Dwarka Kala Sangam. He handed over the mike to Mrs.Sheel Dhunta to take charge of the stage. Mrs.Sheel Dhunta commenced by briefing about the early career of Rafi, the legendary singer. While the singers sang soulful and melodious songs Mrs.Sheel Dhunta took every opportunity presented to narrate interesting and informative episodes of Mohammad Rafi\u2019s singing career. Singers continued to regale the audience with their solo and duet songs. The audience was spell bound by the performances of singers and mesmerizing accompaniment provided by the key board player Mr.Tarkeshwar, octopad player Mr.Satya Prakash and tabla player Mr.Shambhoo.<\/p>\n

Mr.Ravinder Ravi, a runner-up in INDIAN IDOL reality show who is a music teacher in NATRAJ Sangeet Mahavidyalaya also proved his versatility by singing two Rafi numbers. Mrs.Madhumita, a renowned professional singer of Dwarka also captivated the audience with her magical performance. The entire music programme was ably video graphed by Mr.P.S.Dhunta.\n<\/div>\n

\nAt the end of the programme Col.Aneja thanked the owners of Natraj Sangeet Mahavidyalaya for extending their full cooperation in making the programme a grand success. Col. Aneja informed Dwarka Parichay that a similar programme in memory of singer Mukesh will be organised on 27th August, 2011.<\/p>\n
