4th Hum Kishore Festival <\/b><\/div>\n
\u2013 A competitive Rendezvous of Youngistan <\/b><\/div>\n

Hum Kishore festival, an annual event organised by Urivi Vikram Charitable Trust<\/i><\/b> to celebrate the competitive talent of adolescents in their co-curricular activities, holds from 19th to 23rd April 2011<\/b> at three venues namely Urivi Vikram National Centre for Adolescents (UVNAC), St. Columba\u2019s School and FICCI Auditorium<\/b>. This week-long celebration, the Hum Kishore Festival will engage 75,000 to 1,00,000 students from schools across Delhi\/NCR involved in the performing arts and co curricular activities. This year, prestigious St. Columba\u2019s School<\/i><\/b> has joined as a co-host<\/i><\/b>. Starting with a series of competitions in painting, classical dance, instrumental music, folk dance, singing, skit, extempore, debate, rangoli, creating best out of waste, essay writing, & standby comedy, the festival will culminate into a Grand finale showcasing the performances by the finalists. One of the contests \u2018We Act (Skit\/ Drama)\u2019<\/i><\/b> has sponsored by National Foundation for Communal Harmony (NFCH)<\/i><\/b> which is scheduled on the final day at FICCI Auditorium. The repertoire on offer has been expanded with many more trophies and prizes to be won. In its new avatar the festival promises to be both popular, prestigious and a state level event- indeed a feather in the cap of the winner schools.<\/div>\n\n\n\n\n

Started in January 2008 with a tradition of putting together young people the Hum Kishore Festival is packaged to provide them an open forum to showcase their creative talents and thereby helping them to hone their competitive edge, in fields other than usual academics. In the First Festival, only 7 schools participated whereas the 2nd \u2018Hum Kishore Festival\u2019 (14-18 January 2009) attracted as many as 19 schools and the 3rd Festival (20-25 April 2010) have had 52 schools. During the festival, the children created an atmosphere full of energy and high spirits, putting up some great performances. Winning Schools were awarded glittering Memorial Rolling Trophies and children got a Replica or Gold Medal and Runners-up received Silver Medals.  Each Participant was also given a \u2018certificate of participation\u2019. Smt Krishna Tirath, Hon\u2019ble Union Minister for Women and Child, was the Chief Guest at the 3rd Hum Kishore Festival.<\/div>\n

Urivi Vikram Charitable Trust (UVCT), a non-governmental and non profit Organization, was established in India in 1991. It was founded by Dr U N B Rao, IPS<\/b> and his wife, Urivi Chaya<\/b>, in the memory of their only son Urivi Vikram<\/b>, who died tragically in an accident at the age 21 years. UVCT has 11 centers functioning in five states – Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Haryana & Delhi and alliance with a number of other organizations and institution. UVCT has also expanded globally with setting up of UVCT USA chapter. In the year 2008, UVCT saccomplished a remarkable feat by establishing the first ever \u2018National Centre for Adolescents\u2019 named after Urivi Vikram and popularly called UVNAC. UVCT strives for the empowerment of adolescents and its priority target group comprises school-going children, drop-outs, under-achievers and underprivileged adolescents.  UVCT has a motto of finding ways and means to transform the world\u2019s \u2018Burden of Population\u2019<\/i><\/b> into \u2018Assets of Human Resources\u2019<\/i><\/b>, through a process of empowerment, rather than of control.<\/div>\n

\nAll over adolescent students are pressurised mostly for their academic excellence. In the process, children by the time finish their 12th class emerge as wither away flowers. We parents and teachers are not giving scope for their innate strengths and unexpressed talent talents. Hum Kishore Festival is designed to provide an open forum to these school children to showcase their creative talent and help them hone their competitive edge. <\/p>\n

We are expanding arena of participation to all over Delhi and satellite towns such as Gurgaon, NOIDA, Faridabad and Gaziabad. We are also accepting the participation of students who have taken up their 12th examinations and awaiting results. It\u2019s the school principals and administrators to appreciate the value of such extra and co curricular activities and send their children for competitions. Academic excellence won\u2019t suffer provided if he could give vent to to his inner talent and thereby gain success. <\/p><\/div>\n
