North West Delhi Cultural Association, Rohini organized various cultural programmes on the occasion of 18th Ayyappa Pooja celebrations in various places in the capital. Young and upcoming artistes play a major role in the Association\u2019s endeavour to preserve India\u2019s great and rich cultural heritage. The association encourages young artistes in fine arts by providing a platform to them, to exhibit and nurture their talents.<\/p>\n

The main aim of the association is to provide a culturally better life to the citizens of North West Delhi. It also joins hands with other cultural associations of Delhi and Chennai in this noble venture.<\/p>\n

The association encourages youngsters by honouring them for their achievements in academics and extra cultural activities. This year, Sapna Attavar, a resident of Dwarka, Sector 4, and class XII student of Shiksha Bharati Public School, Dwarka was one of the participants for the Young Achievers Award. She was honoured with a participant certificate and a shield. Sapna was also invited to give a solo Bharatanatyam dance performance on Sunday, 12 December 2010 at the Ayyappa Temple, Rohini Sector 7.<\/p>\n

\nSapna enthralled the audience during her solo Bharatanatyam performance. A disciple of the renowned Bharatanatyam exponent, Guru Smt. Kanaka Sudhakar, Sapna performed the complete \u201cVarnam\u201d, the most challenging item in the Bharatanatyam \u201cMargam\u201d. The Guru, in her remarks was all praise for young Sapna, who was performing solo for the first time in a full-fledged one hour recital. The Guru informed the appreciative audience that Sapna is one of the youngest students to have performed the Varnam, the difficult item, on stage. The Guru also mentioned that Sapna is one of her youngest students to appear for the graduation level \u201cVishaarad Poorna\u201d this year; and complimented Sapna for her dedication, skill and stamina. The programme was a resounding success for young Sapna, for whom this is the first one
\nhour solo performance ever.<\/p>\n

The Guru and the disciple were also honoured by Shree Dharma Sastha Sewa Samajam with a certificate and shield. The programme was well compered by Kum. Sushmitha and Kum. Shilpa.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
