In an attempt to bolster the successful launch of the National Women\u2019s League, which is slated to kick-off later this year, the All India Football Federation conducted a Women\u2019s League Workshop at the AIFF Headquarters in the Capital today (July 05, 2016).<\/p>\n

\nThe Workshop was aimed to strengthen the Indian Senior Women\u2019s National Team by developing a sustainable and competitive environment for Women\u2019s Club Football. The workshop for the proposed National Women\u2019s League was attended by participants of various Hero Indian Super League Clubs (Delhi Dynamos, Chennaiyin FC, Kerala Blasters, FC Pune City, Atletico de Kolkata) and Hero I-League Clubs (Bengaluru FC, Aizawl FC, Mumbai FC).<\/p>\n

Speaking on the occasion, AIFF\u2019s General Secretary Mr. Kushal Das said, \u201cWe believe that India has a lot of potential when it comes to Women\u2019s Football and we want to capitalize on that\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have the potential to qualify for the AFC Asian Cup and then go on to play the FIFA World Cup in 2019\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cKeeping in mind the planned development of Women\u2019s Football we will launch the Women\u2019s League in October 2016 and this Workshop aims to get a consensus for successful launch of the League\u201d, Mr. Das added.<\/p>\n

Explaining the calendar planned for the development of Women\u2019s Football and the National Team, Mr. Das said, \u201cThe AFC U-19 Championship will be in October and we will have a National Camp before that\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cNext, we intend to hold the National Championship in November and December, while the final phase of the National Women\u2019s League will be held in January\/ February 2017 building up to the Qualifiers in April 2017\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Women\u2019s League will also give us an opportunity to identify talent for the Senior Women\u2019s National Team in our quest to qualify for the FIFA World Cup\u201d, the AIFF General Secretary stated.<\/p>\n

The Workshop also informed the attending Clubs of the AIFF\u2019s National Women\u2019s League Club Licensing criteria, the structure of the proposed National Women\u2019s League and the roadmap for the qualification of the Senior Women\u2019s Team for the AFC Women\u2019s Asian Cup 2018.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Workshop aimed to brief the participants in how we would like to launch the National Women\u2019s League, whilst encouraging their feedback as to how they can make the League better\u201d, AIFF\u2019s Technical Director Scott O\u2019Donell told www.the-aiff.com.<\/p>\n
