India has been designated as the Guest of Honour at the 33rd Feria Internacional del Libro de Guadalajara<\/em>\n(Guadalajara International Book Fair), Mexico (30 Nov to 8 Dec 2019) – the\nlargest book fair in the Spanish speaking world. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a Press Conference held on 6 June 2019 at Embassy of India at Mexico\nCity, Prof. Govind Prasad Sharma, Chairman, National Book Trust, India, Sh.\nMuktesh K. Pardeshi, Ambassador of India in Mexico, and Shri Kumar Vikram,\nEditor & Project Incharge announced in detail the India’s broad outline of programmes\nfor FIL 2019, to a packed house of media persons. Ms Marisol Schulz Manaut,\nDirector General, FIL also addressed the Press Conference from the book fair\norganizer’s side. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The National Book Trust, India (under the Ministry of HRD, Govt. of\nIndia) is the nodal agency coordinating the Guest Country Presentation at the said\nBook Fair. India will display a wide array of its rich and composite literary\nand cultural heritage at this edition of Feria\nInternacional del Libro de Guadalajara<\/em> (FIL) – with over 35 authors \/artists\n\/scientists \/science communicators \/children’s writers; 15 publishing houses;\nliterary and academic activities comprising conferences, publishers\u2019 round\ntable, discussions and presentations on science and other genres; 3 large\nexhibitions consisting of ancient and rare manuscripts, photo books, wall\nhangings on handicrafts and paintings; modern art by 40 renowned women artists\nof India; a Festival of India consisting of extensive cultural programme that\nwill include 10 concerts – folk, classical and contemporary; and an artistic\ntribute to Indian literature, among many other activities. An expected sale and\nexhibition of more than 2000 Indian titles is foreseen at this huge book event,\nwhich will also include translation agreements and copyright exchanges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
