The festival is devoted to\nheroism and struggle of millions of specially-abled across the globe. Through\nthe festival, AIMC seeks to spotlight the skills of \u2018Differently abled people\u2019,\ntheir contributions to society and acknowledge them as \u2018<strong>Specially abled\npeople<\/strong>\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>The\nfestival is being organized in association with the internationally recognized\nNGO \u2018<em>Brotherhood<\/em>\u2019 and with the\nsupport of UNESCO and UN Information Centre<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nvarious national and international films that were screened included <strong>National\nAward winning film \u2018Goonga Pehelwan\u2019 (India)<\/strong><strong>, \u2018Fish and I\u2019 (Iran), \u2018Blind Date\u2019 (Russia), \u2018Basket Bronx (Spain),\n&#8216;White Balance (Israel)&#8217;, \u2018Children of the Stars (China)\u2019, \u2018More than Walking\n(USA)\u2019, \u2018Beyond Borders (Belgium)\u2019, \u2018Departure Lounge (United Kingdom)\u2019 and\nmany more.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" data-layzr=\"https:\/\/dwarkaparichay.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Navika-Kumar-Managing-Editor-Times-Now-addressing-the-audience-at-We-Care.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-59623\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking about\nthe festival, Chief Guest, <strong>Navika Kumar<\/strong>,\nManaging Editor, Times Now, hailed differently abled persons as \u2018true\nachievers\u2019 and said \u2018\u2018The biggest disability lies only in our minds. The\nthough-provoking films screened at the festival have been able to rekindle our\nempathy towards differently-abled people and showcase that persons with disabilities\nlive the same sort of full and independent lives as others. In fact, they are\ntrue achievers as they have been able to overcome all adds stacked against\nthem\u2019\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" data-layzr=\"https:\/\/dwarkaparichay.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Ira-Singhal-Deputy-Commissioner-North-Delhi-Municipal-Corporation-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-59624\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Guest of Honor<strong>, Ira Singhal<\/strong>, IAS Officer, Deputy\nCommissioner, North Delhi Municipal Corporation and the first differently abled\nwoman to top civil services from general category, emphasized the importance of\nbeing conscious as a society towards the environment we create for differently\nabled people. She said, \u2018\u2018It is the little things that we do that can\nsignificantly make a difference in the lives of differently abled \u2013 either in a\npositive or negative manner. In fact it is our duty to acknowledge their\nabilities and create an atmosphere that is conducive to them realizing their\nfull potential.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" data-layzr=\"https:\/\/dwarkaparichay.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/LtoR-Prof.-Sajal-Mukherjee-Prof.-Ashok-Ogra-Pranav-Lal-Navika-Kumar-Ira-Singhal-Prof.-KG-Suresh.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-59625\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The festival saw enthusiastic participation from differently\nabled persons including a special<strong>&nbsp;Photography Exhibition by Mr. Pranav\nLal<\/strong>, a visually impaired photographer who&nbsp;clicks photographs\nthrough the use of the software \u2018Voice\u2019. Mr. Lal said, \u2018\u2018Digital Technology is\nan effective driver to pursuing my passion of photography! Today, I can\nperceive without seeing and can capture subjects with the help of sounds.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Special performances by&nbsp;<strong>Differently-abled students from\nPunerutthan Trust<\/strong>&nbsp;(NGO) were also showcased during the inaugural day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Photography\nand Painting competitions on the theme of disability are also being organized\nthat will see entries from schools and colleges across Delhi NCR. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to <strong>Prof. Sajal\nMukherjee,<\/strong> Director, Apeejay\nInstitute of Mass Communication, \u201cAIMC is proud to be associated with this\nfestival.
