Today education needs have changed and the schools need to go beyond the barriers of bookish knowledge and learning to provide children with skills and attitudes that will help them in lifelong learning .Sports and sports events form an integral part of PRAGATI PUBLIC SCHOOLS curriculum. Our school grounds have been witness to the growth of many students at the national level in various sports. In the school\u2019s endeavor to nurture sporting talent among school children ,the CBSE CLUSTER XII FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT (UNDER 19 BOYS ) 2014-15was kicked off on 16th Oct\u201914 in the premises of PPS. The Chief Guest was Mr Bhupender Dhawan , a Dronacharya Awardee in Powerlifting and weight lifting.The Guest of Honour on the occasion was Mr Mukesh Singh , a successful mechanical engineer and a renowned body building world champion Building Championship 2014.. The Chairperson Dr .Ms Poonam Manshani & Principal Ms. Geeta Kapur warmly welcomed the guests and presented them mementos. The programme began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the Chief Guest followed by the flag hoisting ceremony. There was a march past of all the participants of the schools. It was a great sight to see the participants led as the flag bearers marched with measured steps and swinging of the arms . The school principal Ms Geeta Kapur in her inspiring address said, \u201cSports serve society by providing vivid examples of excellence\u201d and exhorted the students to take part in sport activities. <\/p>\n

\nA number of activities were held which added colour to the programme . The event also hit a harmonious note with a charismatic performance by the school choir which enthralled the hearts of one and all. The students put up a mesmerizing dance performance for the audience. The chief guest in his speech , urged the players to elevate patriotism & brotherhood through sports and said, \u201cSport is a part of society as both an educational fixture & an entertainment enterprise. Sports form part of human & social development ,It can contribute to social cohesion ,tolerance & integration & can be an effective channel for physical and socio \u2013economic development.He declared the tournament open and the teams were administered the oath by the Chief Guest( As a universal language sport can be a powerful medium for social & economic change: It can be utilized to plug cultural gaps, resolve conflicts & educate people in ways that very few activities can. Sports and games give us opportunities to grow in life .The programme ended with a vote of thanks by the Principal Ms. Geeta Kapur. Around 64 teams had competed in this prestigious event. The teams performed with excellence & successfully entered into the state level competition. It was a moment of pride for the school too as this activity heralds a new beginning. It was followed by an orchestra presentation. The Chief Guest extended his compliments for the wonderful execution of the event.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
