Children\naccompanying their parents had a field day at the fair grounds with buying\nbooks of their choice and attending the various activities and programmes being\nheld at the Children\u2019s pavilion. The second day of the book fair saw a huge\ncrowd of about 1 lakh visitors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The book fair saw\nvarious activities also being held on the sidelines of the book fair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p><strong>CEOSpeak<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In\nthe series of business sessions being organized on the sidelines of New Delhi\nWorld Book Fair, today CEOSpeak Over Chairman\u2019s Breakfast was organized jointly\nby FICCI and National Book Trust, India. The theme of the session was \u2018Book\nExport Markets\u2019. In his address, Dr Mohsin Jawadi, Deputy Minister for Culture\n&amp; Guidance, Government of Islamic Republic of Iran invited Indian\npublishers to the International Book Fair in Tehran and said that we are\nprepared to closely collaborate with Indian authors and publishers in different\nbook-related fields. Welcoming the guests, Prof. Govind Prasad Sharma,\nChairman, NBT informed the audience that National Book Trust, India was the\nNodal Agency for the Guest of Honor Presentation of India at Abu Dhabi\nInternational Book Fair and Guadalajara International Book Fair. \u201cBoth these\nfairs cater to a wide and large books markets in Arabic and Spanish languages\nrespectively,\u201d he added. Speaking about developing cooperation between two\ncountries, Mr Niknam Husainpur, CEO, Publication House, Iran, said that\ncooperation between Indian and Iranian publishers is an important aspect of\nIndo-Iran relations and Iran is willing to cooperate with Indian publishers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Author\u2019s Corners \/ Seminars<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A discussion on the\nbook&nbsp;<em>The Saraswati Civilization<\/em>, authored by Major General G D\nBakshi was organized by Garuda Prakashan at Author\u2019s Corner, Hall No. 8. Another\nbook, <em>Kanpur Ki Ghatak Kathayein<\/em>,\nauthored by Mridul Kapil was released at Lekhak Manch, Hall No. 12.&nbsp;The\nsession was organised by Aman Prakashan. In a symposium on mother tongue held\nat the Seminar Hall, and organised by The Intellects. Speaking on the occasion,\nProf. Ravi Tekchandani emphasized on the importance of mother language. During\nthe session, tribute was paid to A.V. Swamy, a true follower of Gandhi, Indian\npolitician who represented Odisha in Rajya Sabha. The other speakers on the\noccasion included Dr. Bijayand Singh, Prof. Amarendra Kathua, Prof. Mrinal\nChatterjee and Prof. Udaynath Sahoo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Children&#8217;s Pavilion<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A number of\nactivities engrossed children at the Children\u2019s pavilion today. The day began\nwith a storytelling session in which the well-known children\u2019s authors\nincluding&nbsp;Suman Bajpayee, Suman Kumar and Kusum Lata Singh interacted and\nnarrated a few interesting stories to children. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8216;Tamsili Mushaira and\nKavi Sammelan&#8217; for children was also organized, where the young kids shared\nmeaningful messages via poems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Theme Pavilion \u2013 Gandhi: Writers\u2019 Writer<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Do we know Gandhi?&#8221; remarked Dr Varsha Das,\nwell-known author and Gandhian at a panel discussion on the topic &#8216;Gandhiji Ko\nJaise Meine Jana&#8217; (How I Understand Gandhi) held at the Theme Pavilion. Dr Das\ndiscussed about the relevance of Gandhi in present times and also explained the\nways to help children and young understand Gandhi. Talking about Gandhi&#8217;s\nphilosophy, Prof. Govind Prasad Sharma, Chairman, NBT said that his philosophy\nwas diverse and extensive. He remarked that whenever we remember Gandhi, his\nphilosophy gives us positivity in life. During the discussion, Shri Narendra\nShukl highlighted about the inter-relation between Indian philosophy and\nGandhi&#8217;s thoughts. Shri Ramesh Tanna talked about Gandhi as a journalist and\nrole of Navjivan in Gandhi literature.&nbsp; Dr rakesh Pande also spoke on the\noccasion. Ms Neera jain, Director, NBT also spoke on the occasion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A panel discussion\nwas also organized which was focused on the life of Mahtama Gandhi and how he\nenlightened everyone with his actions. The speakers on the occasion included\nShri Madan Dubey, Shri B.S. Mirgay and Shri Avinash Dudhe. The panelists\npraised the enthusiasm and zeal Gandhi showed during his protests against the\nBritish and how he always led a simple life.&nbsp; &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p><strong>International\nEvents Corner<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A Presentation on Higher Education in Saudi\nArabia was organised by the Embassy of Saudi Arabia at the International Events\nCorner and presented by Professor Hamid Bin Abdurrauf Saleh(Dean, Faculty of Quality and Academic Accreditation, Medical\nCollege, King Abdulaziz University, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The programme was\nmoderated by Prof. Z A Farooqi (Academic Advisor, Cultural Attach\u00e9 Office,\nSaudi Arabia). An event based on the \u2018Efforts of Saudi Arabia in teaching of\nArabic Language\u2019 was also held. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another panel discussion organised by the\nEmbassy of Denmark, New Delhi on <em>The\nTravel, the Foreign and the Meeting of Cultures<\/em> was held at the\nInternational event corner. The panelists were Stine Askov, a novelist and\nauthor of Bj\u00f8rneklo (Hogweed) and Anne-Sophie Lunding-S\u00f8rensens is the author\nof trilogy; <em>Happy ending<\/em>, <em>Happy family<\/em> and <em>Happy Hour<\/em>.
