{"id":61415,"date":"2020-01-08T21:23:00","date_gmt":"2020-01-08T15:53:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dwarkaparichay.com\/blog\/?p=61415"},"modified":"2022-07-06T21:07:19","modified_gmt":"2022-07-06T15:37:19","slug":"shri-sanjay-dhotre-releases-nbt-books-at-new-delhi-world-book-fair","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dwarkaparichay.com\/blog\/shri-sanjay-dhotre-releases-nbt-books-at-new-delhi-world-book-fair\/","title":{"rendered":"Shri Sanjay Dhotre Releases NBT Books at New Delhi World Book Fair"},"content":{"rendered":"\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhile going through the displays at the\nTheme Pavilion of New Delhi World Book Fair, a thought came to my mind that if\na line or a word of a book can change the life of a reader, then Gandhi\u2019s life\nis no less an all-time great book because Gandhi by his words and wisdom\nchanged the lives of millions,\u201d said Shri Sanjay Dhotre, Hon\u2019ble Minister of\nState for Human Resource Development, Government of India at a book release\nfunction held at the Theme Pavilion of New Delhi World Book Fair, Pragati\nMaidan. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Expressing his immense joy in finding\nhimself amidst great writers and their works along with India\u2019s linguistic\ndiversity, Shri Sanjay Dhotre hoped that the New Delhi World Book Fair would go\nfrom strength to strength in the years to come. Earlier, Prof Govind Prasad\nSharma, Chairman, welcomed Shri Dhotre on behalf of all the stakeholders of the\nFair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>On this occasion recently published NBT\nbooks titled <em>Gandhi Ahimsa Ka Senani<\/em>\n(Hindi translation of the book <em>Gandhi:\nWarrior of Non-violence<\/em>, authored by P.D. Tandon and Roland Edgar\nWolseley); <em>Baramah<\/em> (Punjabi), <em>Visithira Thampathigal K Sabha Sirukathaikal<\/em>\n(Tamil), <em>Bhatke-Vimukta Samaj<\/em>: <em>Bhasha va Sanskruti<\/em> (Marathi); and <em>Sitakant Mahapatranka Shrestha Gadyakruti<\/em>\n(Odia). Lt. Col. Yuvraj Malik, Director, NBT thanked the Minister for his\ninspiring words and sparing his time to be present at the release\nfunction.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Later, a discussion on Gandhiji\u2019s views on\neducation and languages was organized by National Council for Promotion of Urdu\nLanguage at the Theme Pavilion. The speakers on the occasion included Prof.\nAkhtarul Wasey; Prof. Rizwan Kaisar; Shri Qurbaan Ali; Prof. Shahid Akhtar and\nShri Aquil Ahmad, Director, NCPUL. The speakers also talked about Gandhi\u2019s\ncommitment towards promoting education in mother tongue and his contribution\ntowards nation building.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gandhi was a multifaceted personality, he\nwas not only a writer, but also was a publisher, editor, translator and a\nleader. His different shades of personality were discussed at a panel\ndiscussion held at the Theme Pavilion, today. The speakers on the occasion\nincluded Dr Mala Mishra, Aditi Mahavidyalaya, University of Delhi; Ms Shashi Prabha\nTewari, poet and senior journalist; Shri Ravi Raj, Programme Officer,\nDoordarshan; Dr Rajeev Srivastav, filmmaker and Shri Suresh Sharma, Director,\nNational School of Drama.&nbsp; The panelists\ndiscussed in detail how Gandhi has influenced the writers like Premchand,\nMaithilisharan Gupt, Subhadara Kumari Chauhan; filmmakers, playwrights and\nmedia. Dr Rajiv Raj remarked that he was one of the best journalists of his\ntimes and wrote fearlessly. The panelists were of the view that there is a need\nto analyse Mahatma Gandhi more deeply in today\u2019s context.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p><strong>National\nConclave on Readership and Book Promotion<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A National Conclave on Readership\nand Book Promotion wherein a panel discussion of State Project Directors and\nother Stakeholders was organized by National Book Trust, India on the sidelines\nof New Delhi World Book Fair 2020 at Pragati Maidan. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The discussion focused on presenting\ncontent for children in an attracting way in order to augment their knowledge\nbase beyond text books. Inputs were invited from the delegates present on how\nto incorporate local, cultural and ethnic aspects in the reading material so\nthat young minds can relate to it. Inaugurating the session, Prof. Govind\nPrasad Sharma, Chairman, NBT said that National Book Trust, India is probably among\nfirst five institutions in the world, which publishes books in 51 dialects and\nlanguages. He also informed the audience present that in the year 2019, NBT\nbooks reached about three crore young readers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>Lt. Col. Yuvraj Malik, Director,\nNBT said that a teacher actually is the nation builder. Speaking about NBT\nbooks for children, Ms Neera Jain, Chief Editor and Joint Director said that\nNBT endeavors to play an important role in nation building through its books.\nOn this occasion, a documentary on <em>\u2018Padhe Bharat, Badhe Bharat\u2019<\/em> was also\nlaunched. The film highlighted NBT\u2019s contribution in making the <em>Padhe\nBharat, Badhe Bharat<\/em> initiative of the Govt. of India a success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The session was attended by 35\nrepresentatives from 20 states and Union Territories \u2013 from top North Ladakh to\ndown South Puducherry and from far North-East Nagaland to western most point of\nIndia i.e. Gujarat. The distinguished dignitaries included Secretary School\nEducation, UT of Ladakh Shri Saugat Biswas, IAS, State Project Director from\nMaharashtra Dr Ashwini Joshi, State Project Director Delhi Ms. Ranjana Deswal,\nState Project Director Mizoram Shri Lalmah Chhuana. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Children\u2019s\nPavilion<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A Digital Storytelling session by noted\nchildren\u2019s authors Usha Chhabra and Rumi Malik kept the children involved and\nengaged at the Children\u2019s Pavilion. The session was based upon the beauty of\nthe seven-sisters or commonly known as North-east. The stories with a little\ntouch of nature by Rumi Malik mesmerized the children. Usha Chhabra informed\nabout role of digital images in storytelling. Later, a story based upon the\nlife of Saikhom Mirabai Chanu was narrated to the children. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A workshop on the &#8216;Rights\nof Children&#8217; by Law 24X7 was organized at the Children&#8217;s Pavilion. Nikhil\nPandey co-ordinated the event while Bhavana Anand gave a power point\npresentation.&nbsp; Sarika Varma, the director\nof Law 24&#215;7 and Kartikey Shukla, a children\u2019s rights activist were also present\non the occasion. The children carefully listened to the speakers as they talked\nabout interesting and informative things from the constitution. The children\nwere advised that they should always rely on the police if in some problem. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>A creative writing workshop was also\norganized by Happy Horizons Trust at the Pavilion. The children were asked to\nwrite a letter to or on Bapu. The children wrote how Mahatma Gandhi paved ways\nfor Swacch Bharat Abhiyaan; whereas some wrote about how they wished he would\nbe alive today. The children worked in groups and wrote to him or on relevance\nof his values in today&#8217;s time. Few of them drew his illustrations, posters to\nexpress their love for him, it was also displayed at the walls of the hall.\nAnother competition was organized for children at Children&#8217;s Pavilion. They had\nto write a letter to someone dear, who might be their friend, mother, father or\nany loved one. The event was organised by Nav Prabhat Jan Seva Sansthan, and\nco-ordinated by Shri Rajkumar Dubey, the secretary of the organizing committee.\nThe host assured the letters be posted to the designated person, on behalf of\nthe kids. The speakers on the occasion were Dr. Amarnath Amar, former\nDoordarshan; Gyanendra Rawat, Sr. Journalist and Environmentalist; and Ranveer\nSingh, Principal, Brahm Shakti School, Sonipat. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>A panel discussion on Mahatma Gandhi&#8217;s\nWritings was organised by DSBPA at the Children&#8217;s Pavilion. Moderated by Shri\nShekhar Sarkar, the panellists on the occasion included Shri Deepak Vohra, IFS;\nShri Abid Surti, noted cartoonist; Dr Gopichandran, and Shri Manas&nbsp;Ranjan\nMahapatra, Editor, NBT. Shri Abid Surti shared how Gandhiji is relatively close\nto his family, and about his initiative of water conservation. Dr.\nGopichandran&nbsp;described how books should be written about moments of\ninspiration. While interacting with the students, Shri Deepak Vohra shed some\nlight upon mobile addiction syndrome, and how the body responds to it. He also\nshared an excerpt from Mahabharata. Graphics and photographs of Mahatma Gandhi\nwere also shown during the discussion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Seminar Hall<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A poetry session was\norganised by Indian Society of Authors at the Seminar Hall. Moderated by Shri\nAnil Verma, the other speakers on the occasion included Dr Mukta, Dr Harish\nArora, Shri Laxmi Shankar Bajpai, Dr Vivek Gautam, Ms Sushma Bhandari and Ms\nVeena Raghav. Shri Anil Verma shed light on the importance of poetry,\nespecially Hindi Poetry, and how it has plummeted to a great depth in our\nsociety. This session aimed at highlighting the beauty of Hindi literature and\npoetry amongst the audience. Dr. Vivek Gautam remarked that Indian Society of\nAuthors in collaboration with National Book Trust, India&nbsp; hope to bring change in the perspective of\npeople about Hindi literature by conducting events like these at various places\nin India. During the session, Ms Sushma Bhandari enlightened the occasion by\nsinging beautiful Hindi poems, whole Ms Veena Raghav presented some unheard and\nbeautiful couplets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Authors\u2019 Corner<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe teachings and thoughts of Swami\nVivekananda are immortal\u201d, said Dr. Ravi Prakash Tekchandani during a book\ndiscussion held at the Author\u2019s Corner at Hall no. 8. The session was organized\nby National Book Trust, India and Bhartiya Shiksha Mandal. The speakers on the\noccasion included Shri Mukul Kanitkar and Shri Anoop A.J., authors of the book;\nProf. Sachidanand Joshi and Shri Shekhar Sain, Chairman, Sangeet Natak Academy.\nProf. Govind Prasad Sharma, Chairman, NBT was also present on the occasion.\nWhile introducing the book \u201cEssential Vivekananda\u201d, Shri Anoop described how\nSwami Vivekananda has got love and respect, not only from the people of our\ncountry, but from people all over the world. He is of the view that at a very\nyoung age, Swami Vivekananda was able to bring the change and evolution in our\ncountry with his thoughts and teachings. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The cover of forthcoming novel <em>Kala Naag,<\/em> by Surendra Mohan Pathak,\nwell-known author was released at a function held at Lekhak Manch. The release\nwas followed by an interactive session with the author. The session was\ncoordinated by Prabhat Ranjan. The programme was organized by Hind Pocket\nBooks. Later, a book release function was organized by Yash Publications at Lekhak\nManch. On this occasion, two books titled <em>Mere\nSamay ka Bharat<\/em> by Prof. Baldeo Bhai Sharma and <em>Sakshi hai Samay<\/em>, authored by Rajeev Ranjan were released.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, a discussion on \u2018Untold\nhistory of our Country and how our ancestors defended against invaders\u2019 was\norganized at the Author\u2019s Corner, Hall No. 8. Shri Ankur Pathak, Shri Sankrant\nSanu and Ms Manoshi Sinha Rawal were the speakers on the occasion. The\nprogramme was organized by Garuda Prakashan.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p><strong>International Events Corner<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A\nConference on <em>Sino-India Publishing<\/em>\nfollowed by the launch of 20 books, translated from Chinese to Hindi, Tamil,\nUrdu and English was held at the International Events Corner in the august\npresence of Prof. Govind Prasad Sharma, Chairman, National Book Trust, India.\nThe programme was organised by Royal Collins Publishing Group Inc., China.\nProf. Govind Prasad Sharma recounted the fact of India and China being the two\noldest civilizations of the history and the serendipity of the two to be\nneighbours has strengthened their relations over the years. Prof. Baldeo Bhai\nSharma, Dept. of Mass Communication, Central University of Dharamshala,\nHimachal Pradesh and also former Chairman of NBT, briefly described the history\nof India and China. According to him, \u201cLiterature is not just about written\nwords but it actually connects the sentiments of human beings of different\nsocieties.\u201d Mr. Zhang Jianxin, Chinese Culture Counsellor, who spoke in Hindi\nand English talked about Indo-China cultural exchanges. He further added that\nhe used to study Indian books and still reads and expressed that it is his\nresponsibility to promote friendly relationship through cultural exchanges between\nthe two countries. Prof. Zhang Zhiqian, Dean, Nanjing University, China,\npresented a brief status of published books in China.
