Realising\nthe extraordinary psychological, social, economic and cultural significance of\nCorona Pandemic for the human society in times to come, National Book Trust, India,<\/strong> the national body for book publishing\nand book promotion under the Ministry of\nHuman Resource Development, Government of India,<\/strong> is launching a publishing\nseries titled \u2018Corona Studies Series\u2019<\/strong>\nto document and to provide relevant reading materials for all age-groups for\nthe post-Corona readership needs. \u201cIn response to the national crisis of this\nproportion, we believe that as a national institution it is our duty to take\ninitiatives within our domain area to provide support in the form of new\nreading materials. The \u2018Corona Studies Series\u2019seeks to be our long-term\ncontribution to prepare and engage readers with the various aspects of the Corona\ntimes by bringing out affordable books in various Indian languages in the\nidentified subject areas. It will also provide suitable platform to authors and\nresearchers willing to contribute in this genre,\u201d said Prof. Govind Prasad Sharma, Chairman, National Book Trust, India.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

 \u201cWe have been closely following the\nCorona-related developments and taking cues from the multi-dimensional\ninitiatives of our parent Ministry of\nHRD\u2019s <\/strong>(Government of India) initiatives to meet the challenges of the\nCorona Pandemic. As a body for reading promotion, we find that we have a\nsignificant role to play. Accordingly, we started #StayHomeIndiaWithBooks\ninitiatives by uploading pdfs of some of our select and bestselling titles for\nfree downloads, and we have been receiving tremendous response. Taking a\ncomprehensive view, we are launching this publishing series. As the first step,\nwe have set-up a Study Group comprising of some experienced and young psychologists\/counsellors\nto prepare books on the sub-series on \u2018Psycho-Social Impact of Corona Pandemic\nand the Ways to Cope\u2019. We hope to bring out both e-editions and printed\neditions of these books soon enough as support materials for the readers\u201d, said\nShri Yuvraj Malik, Director, National\nBook Trust, India.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe\nhave identified various areas for preparing suitable reading materials under\nthe \u2018Corona Studies Series\u2019. Besides, the sub-series on the Psycho-Social\nImpact on various segment of population due to Corona crisis, we are preparing\nchildren\u2019s books to let them know about Our Corona Warriors, and other story\nand picture books related to various aspects of Corona to create awareness.\nAlso, books focused on art, literature, folklore, economic and sociological\naspects, science\/health awareness emerging out of the Corona pandemic, and the lockdown,\nare also in the pipeline\u201d, said Shri Kumar Vikram, Senior Editor of National\nBook Trust, India, who is leading the Project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

STATEMENT OF THE NBT STUDY GROUP:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018This Study Group is\ndeeply conscious of the challenging task assigned to it in the tough times of\nCOVID-19 Global pandemic crisis. The Group heartily welcomes this visionary\ninitiative of National Book Trust, India. The Group will develop methodologies\nand practical tips to deal with situations, helped by easy-to-assimilate\nreading materials on various segments through research, virtual interviews and\ncase studies. This shall help in overall empowerment and awareness to deal with\nthe lockdown and keep the optimum emotional strength and courage.\u2019<\/em><\/strong><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
