We have heard that PM has announced that if anyone has idea please come to us Govt. will fund it.<\/p>\n

We have an idea which concerns:
(i) dipping underground water level,
(ii) storage issue,
(iii) reducing impact of floods<\/p>\n

We make artificial water reservoirs but the largest water reservoir i.e. earth itself can be explored more effectively.<\/p><\/div>\n

\nThere is a huge potential to tap the overflow water in rivers every year I have not heard any plan to save a portion of this water being flown untapped & causing flood.<\/div>\n
\n
For the purpose we can take the shelter of largest natural water reservoir i.e. earth.<\/p>\n

We have water & we have reservoir its only a matter of making a plan & putting mechanism in place to timely transfer this water to reservoir.<\/p>\n

We are making small efforts by implementing rain water harvesting through buildings & roads but despite spending a lot of resources its effectiveness is still remains a question mark? Even in cities like Delhi which are most hit by dipping underground water level there are negligible efforts. Resources are gutted in the name of RWH but there is no measurable results or any kind of audit to ensure that systems are working.<\/p>\n

Every year due to over flow a lot of water in rivers goes untapped and at the same time causes threat of flood.<\/p>\n

Every year in rainy season we face the crisis of overflowing water in many rivers \u2013 we just see water passing away above danger mark if we can devise a system to transfer some quantity of this flowing water to natural reservoir i.e. earth. I thing this single mechanism can prove to be very effective for parched cities.<\/p>\n

Suppose lets take the example of Delhi if we are able to lay a pipeline from Yamuna to areas which are 5-10 kilometers away from it i.e. to areas which have low water level.<\/p>\n

The pipe would take water from river thru high pressure pumps & transfer it to desired area, where a low capacity \u2018Water Treatment Plant\u2019 would clean the water by passing it thru a filter and release it in deep earth after mixing suitable chemicals\/chlorine etc. Since overflowing water during rainy season is less contaminated the water treatment plant of reasonable level should be sufficient. The silt carried by rivers during rainy season is generally very fertile and collection can be used in parks\/fields. The pumps would start working day & night based on the recommendation of flood department just before when water level start rising in the river. The system would continue pumping water away from river till there is surplus water in stream. The extraction would be only to such an extent and from such locations which environmentalist approve and without causing any shortage of supply to oncoming cities. As a result even cities where there is a rain shortfall can extract sufficient flowing water from river taking advantage of excessive rain in cities at preceding flow.<\/div>\n

\nDepending upon the size of pipeline a lot of water can be stored in this way.<\/div>\n
\nAt present limited version of this system is in force whereby water level is recharged naturally in the nearby areas and wells are dug near river bed to draw water throughout the year. Now, the need is to extent the reach of this system a few kilometers away from river bed.<\/p>\n

I firmly believe that this system can prove to be very useful in re-charging ground water level. Since a lot of water supply is dependent on ground water extraction the water stored in this way can be used throughout the year.<\/p>\n

I request that engineering department may be assigned the task of preparing a feasibility report in co-ordination with flood department & other connected agencies.<\/p>\n
