{"id":67228,"date":"2021-11-21T19:30:00","date_gmt":"2021-11-21T14:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dwarkaparichay.com\/blog\/?p=67228"},"modified":"2021-11-24T12:35:41","modified_gmt":"2021-11-24T07:05:41","slug":"irf-india-chapter-observes-world-day-of-remembrance-for-road-traffic-victims","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dwarkaparichay.com\/blog\/irf-india-chapter-observes-world-day-of-remembrance-for-road-traffic-victims\/","title":{"rendered":"IRF- INDIA CHAPTER OBSERVES WORLD DAY OF REMEMBRANCE FOR ROAD TRAFFIC VICTIMS"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>India chapter of the International Road Federation (IRF) working for better and safer roads world wide today observed the World Day of Remembrance for road traffic victims , an international event started in 2005 to honor the 1.35 million people killed annually on the world\u2019s roads and inspire organizing for change to prevent such tragedies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The World Day of Remembrance is a global program that advocates for&nbsp;improving the relationship between motorists and all users of the road by creating an environment of mutual respect by creating an environment of mutual respect. the theme this year is Remember, Support and Act .&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" data-layzr=\"https:\/\/dwarkaparichay.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/satish-parakh.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-67229\" width=\"210\" height=\"236\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIndia accounts for about 11 per cent of total road accidents worldwide as about 1.5 lakh people die due to road accidents per annum . Road crashes affect everyone -\u202fpeople walking, people cycling and people driving &#8211; as well as the friends and family members of the victims.\u202fThe World Day of Remembrance also recognizes emergency responders, such as police and fire departments and emergency medical technicians, who are the first to arrive on scene to provide immediate care to those injured and provide a critical service to the community.\u202f\u201d said Mr Satish Parakh, President, International Road Federation \u2013 India chapter (IRF-IC) while speaking on the occasion .<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe World&nbsp;Day&nbsp;of&nbsp;Remembrance&nbsp;for Road Traffic Victims (WDR) was initiated by the road traffic victims in 1993 and is dedicated to remembering all those killed and injured on the worlds roads and all those affected by their death or serious injury\/permanent disability. The United Nations had endorsed it in the year 2005 as a global&nbsp;day, making it a major advocacy&nbsp;day&nbsp;for road traffic injury prevention.\u201d said Mr Parakh<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe UN believes that a\u00a0day\u00a0of\u00a0remembrance\u00a0is a way to draw attention to the consequences and economic loss on account of road traffic crashes and to put in place measures that can be taken to prevent them. Its aim is to remind governments and individual members of the society of their responsibility to make the roads safer.
