Played across the world at amateur and professional levels, darts has evolved into a respected sport with structured rules, formats, and international tournaments.<\/p>\n\n\n

Brief Introduction to the Game of Darts<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Darts is played by throwing small, pointed missiles (darts) at a circular board fixed on a wall, known as the dartboard. The board is divided into 20 numbered sections (1 to 20), each having different scoring zones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the center lies the Bullseye (Bull):<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inner Bull (Double Bull) \u2013 Red center worth 50 points.
Outer Bull (Single Bull) \u2013 Green ring worth 25 points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each numbered section has:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Single \u2013 The large scoring area (face value of the number).
Double (D) \u2013 The thin outer ring scoring double the number. (Example: Double 20 = 40)
Triple \/ Treble (T) \u2013 The thin inner ring scoring three times the number. (Example: Triple 20 = 60 \u2013 the highest score with a single dart)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Players throw from behind a designated line called the Oche (pronounced \u201cockey\u201d). A player must keep their feet behind this line while throwing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Popular Formats and Gameplay<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The most common formats are 501 and 301, where players begin with that score and aim to reduce it to exactly zero.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some important gameplay terms include:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Leg \u2013 A single game within a match.
Set \u2013 A group of legs.
Checkout \u2013 The final combination of darts needed to finish the game.
Double Out \u2013 A rule requiring the final dart to land in a double to win.
Bust \u2013 When a player scores more than required or leaves 1 in a double-out format; the score resets to the previous total.
Maximum (180) \u2013 The highest possible score in one turn (three Triple 20s).
Ton \u2013 Scoring 100 points in one visit (three darts).
Nine-Dart Finish \u2013 The perfect leg in 501, completed in just nine darts.
Darts also has its own unique terminology such as:
Flight \u2013 The fin at the back of the dart that stabilizes it.
Barrel \u2013 The main grip portion.
Shaft (Stem) \u2013 Connects the barrel and flight.
Grouping \u2013 Darts landing close together.
Robin Hood \u2013 When one dart sticks into another already in the board.
Madhouse \u2013 Nickname for Double 1.
Shanghai \u2013 Hitting a single, double, and triple of the same number in one turn.
Visit \u2013 One turn of three darts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
