Sapna has made her presence felt once again, in the world of art. This affable young girl has done again what she is best at \u2013 enthralling dance lovers with her art of Bharatanatyam. The month of June 2013 saw Sapna making her presence felt at two important events in her young career.<\/p>\n

Having successfully cleared the Vishaarad Poorna (Graduation) in Bharatanatyam, Sapna was invited to the Classical Music and Dance Convocation Ceremony of Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya Mandal at Belgaum, Karnataka on 16th June 2013, to receive her degree certificate in person. All the artistes were honoured with a shawl and taken round in a procession. Sapna was honoured with a certificate by the President of the Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya Mandal. Besides the Chief Guest Prof. B.R. Ananthan, Vice Chancellor Rani Chennamma University, there were other delegates from the world of music and dance. Sapna was the only artiste from Delhi to receive the certificate at this magnificent function. <\/p>\n

Sapna was also invited to give an hour long performance on 24th June 2013 at the Bangalore studios of Sri Sankara TV Channel, a TV channel dedicated to spiritualism and fine arts. The theme for Sapna\u2019s presentation was \u2018Protection of the Holy Cow (Go Samrakshana) & Preservation of Mother Nature\u2019.<\/p>\n

Beginning her performance by invoking the blessings of the divine Ganesh, Saraswathi, Vishnu, Shiva and the Guru, Sapna\u2019s second recital was based on \u2018Fusion Music\u2019 in which she depicted the wonders of beautiful Nature and the five elements, the Panchatatva (Fire, Air, Water, Earth, and Space). EILians would recall Sapna having performed this dance at Basantotsav programme at EIL Gurgaon in November 2009. Sapna\u2019s next piece was an apt Tamil composition, a panacea for the problems and worries of humans, animals and all other creatures that inhabit Mother Earth. Sapna then portrayed \u2018Geetopdesh\u2019 in which Lord Krishna explains the benefits of following the teachings of the Bhagwad Geeta; and followed this up with a dance depicting Lord Krishna dancing with the Gopis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n

Sapna concluded the programme with \u2018Mile Sur Mera Tumhara\u2019, immortalized by the legendary Late Pandit Dr. Bhimsen Joshi. Dedicated to the cause of national integration, Sapna illustrated the diverse and vibrant cultures of our country. This piece – choreographed by Sapna herself – went down very well with the producers of the programme, who were all praise for the underlying message conveyed by the young artiste through the medium of dance. As the song encompasses various languages and covers all the people of the country, Sapna depicted India\u2019s \u2018Unity in Diversity\u2019, exhibiting all the seven national classical dances of India as well as folk dances of all the regions. The young danseuse danced with poise and confidence, with her repertoire of graceful postures, rhythmic and symmetrical body movements, and intricate and vigorous footwork.<\/p>\n

Sapna, a student of Jesus and Mary College, Delhi University is pursuing final year B. A. (Prog.) with Elective English and French. She is also pursuing her \u2018Alankar\u2019 (Post Graduation) in Bharatanatyam. Sapna is a recipient of the President\u2019s Award for Scouts and Guides in school; and also won the \u2018Dwarka Torch Bearer Award\u2019 in the category Extra Curricular Activities in November 2012.<\/p>\n
