To honour the contribution of women in the society, Ek Sangharsh (Regd. NGO) along with www.crimeindelhi.com and ANHLGT (Association of Neighbourhood Ladies Get Together) organised a cultural program. The program comprised cultural activities like dance performances, plays and addresses of the people working actively in the stratum of women empowerment.
There are only a few occasions when we celebrate womanhood and in countries like India where there are large divides across all sections of society, these occasions assume even more importance. The standards of development include all parts of society and we are pleased to see that now women have made it to each profession and gender discrimination has been largely uprooted from Indian Society. However there are still some parts of India where female feticide and discrimination in opportunity for education are prevalent. We can felicitate womanhood in our own limited ways since we are limited by resources like time, knowledge and manpower.
Special Guests who graced the occasion were Ms. Rebecca Maithai, Civil Servant, currently serving the office of Auditor General and working on a reformatory project in Jaipur. Dr Prashnanshu, Professor at NLU, Dwarka. Also a social activist & poet. Ms. Paroma Bhattacharya, Journalist & a women rights activist.
A musical play by the students of Apeejay School of Management which highlighted the issues of general preference of a male child, eve teasing and various other discriminate social ailments. Dance performances by a 4 year old Shejal, Ms. Aroshi and Ms. Shilpika. Play by the members of ANHLGT on male dominance in domestic life. Felicitation of Nimmi, a differently abled child. Yoga presentation by Yogacharya Dr. Ramesh Kumar from Dwarka Yoga Centre. Qawaali by members of ANHLGT.
