A two day 10th AKLEI( Association of Korean Language Educators’ in India) International Seminar on Korean Language Education was inaugurated on19th of August 2016 at Convention Center, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. The inauguration of 2016 10th AKLEI International Seminar was a historic moment in India to promote Korean language education and enhance the standard of Korean language education in India. In inaugural session of the seminar over 25 delegates including Prof. Jagdesh Kumar, Vice Chancellor, JNU, Ahn Min Shik, Minister of Embassy of Republic of Korea, Prof. Min Hyun Sik, professor at Seoul National University and Former Director General of National Institute of Korean Language, Republic of Korea, Professor, Lee Gwankyu, President of Association of Korean Language Education, Korea, Professor Ahn Jung Hun, Professor Emeritus, Busan National University and Professor Kim Do Young, President of Association of Educators’ in India (AKLEI) attended and participated and discussed on various issues related to Korean language Education including problem and prospects of Korean Language Education in India.

The theme of this year’s AKLEI International seminar is “ Korean Language Education in India: Strategies and Methodologies.” which will allow all the presenters to present their research papers on various issues related to Korean language teaching and learning in India and will also enable them to explore the best way of expanding Korean language education in India. It was a great historic moment as so many Korean language teaching professionals from different parts of the country and from Korea gathered at one platform at JNU to explore better strategies and methodologies to teach Korean language in a multilingual country like India. While speaking at inaugural session Professor Jagdesh Kumar, Vice Chancellor, JNU, promised to extend support from university side and invited Korean companies to register themselves on the website of the placement cell of the University. He also suggested running online Korean language certificate and diploma programme so that a large number of people can be benefitted. Minister of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea also extended his gratitude to AKLEI for its remarkable contribution in the field of Korean language education in India and he also promised to extend the supportive hand of Embassy to the Association in organizing seminar and workshops in future. Professor Kim Do Young , President of AKLEI flashed out the activities of the Association. In opening remarks, he said that how AKELI has been continuously organizing International seminars on Korean language Education in India with different themes and subthemes. He presented an overview of 10 years AKLEI seminars organized since 2006. Opening remarks was followed by Congratulatory speech by Rekha V. Rajan, Dean , School of Language, Literature and Culture Studies, JNU and Book release by Professor Min Hun Sik, Former Director General, National Institute of Korean Language, Korea and by Vice Chancellor, JNU.
The inaugural session was concluded with vote of Thanks by Dr. Ravikesh, Center for Korean Studies. On behalf of AKLEI he extend his profuse thanks and gratitude to all the delegates, paper presenters from JNU, University of Delhi, Central University of Jharkhand, Central University of Manipur, BHU, Korean Culture Centre and from various colleges of University of Delhi. He also extended his thanks to the Academy of Korean Studies, Korea and Embassy of the Republic of Korean for their support in organizing the 10 th AKLEI international seminar, 2016.
