Memories of Daivik Nijhawan-X Raspberries, Sri VIS, Sector-18, Dwarka
It was an experience to cherish for a lifetime. On May 13, I boarded the flight to the land of my dreams the USA.
The 15 day trip started from Houstan, where we began our space school program. The week long program saw us grouped into teams. Each team was given a topic to make a model and presentation. It was also a time when we interacted with the astronauts. At last we were ready with our models of Mars Lander, Mars Rover, Rockets, etc. The graduation dinner was a proud moment as I received a certificate for being a part of NASA.
We reached New York on May 26. We visited the ‘Statue of Liberty’ and I bought a miniature as a memorabilia. The cruise on star cruise was a great experience. The next day we had the opportunity to go the Security General Ban-Ki-Moon’s office. The visit to Ground Zero (where World Trade Centre was once) was an emotional moment.
The next monument we graced was the Empire State Building. On reaching the top it felt the world was in our hands. The tete-a-tete with celebrity statues at Madame Tussad’s was another experience to cherish. Evenings were spent at the Times Square for shopping. I must mention the lovely ride in a Limousine which we will never forget. Finally it was time to come back. After a rescheduled flight which gave me the opportunity to see London I was back.
