BJP leader Shri Rajesh Gahlot will always remain alive

[Prof. S.S. Dogra]

Thursday the 14th of August, 2025, will forever be engraved in our hearts as a day of sorrow and reflection. On this day, we did not merely lose a Socio-political leader; we lost an extraordinary human being — a friend, guide, brother, and a symbol of warmth and humility. Shri Rajesh Gahlot was not just a name in politics; he was a soul whose presence illuminated lives, whose words inspired action, and whose heart embraced all without discrimination.

I remember gifting him a creative photo frame on his birthday a few years ago. Each letter of his name carried a meaning, reflecting his extraordinary personality: Reliable, Amazing, Joyful, Excellent, Shining, Humble… Gentleman, Able, High, Loyal, Own, Top of the World. Each word mirrored the man who lived them effortlessly every day. That frame was not merely a gift — it was an acknowledgment of a life that inspired many, including me.

Born on 2nd October, Rajesh Ji shared his birthday with Mahatma Gandhi — and like Bapu, he embodied simplicity, humility, and selfless service. He believed in walking the path of truth, uplifting others, and leading by example. His life was a living reflection of the values he revered, and his actions spoke louder than any words ever could.

My first meeting with him was around 1997-98, introduced through Shri Sahib Singh Verma, the former Chief Minister of Delhi. From that day onward, a friendship blossomed — one that transcended politics, positions, or titles. He was like an elder brother to me, and sometimes my moral compass. In his political journey, he rose from Councillor to Dy. Mayor and then to MLA in the Delhi Assembly, earning respect and admiration from leaders and RSS volunteers across India. Yet, despite all his achievements, he remained humble, approachable, and deeply human.

Our bond was as personal as it was professional. Over 25 years, he welcomed me into his family, gatherings, and life with the warmth reserved for one’s own. I first interviewed him in 2001 for Hari Bhoomi Hindi Daily newspaper, in 2014, on Dr. Ashok Yadav’s recommendation, he appointed me as Media Advisor for the executive committee of Dwarka Shri Ramlila Society. Rajesh Ji’s devotion to Lord Rama was profound; he inspired everyone around him — family, friends, villagers, and party workers — to follow the path of righteousness, service, and dedication. Under his leadership, the Dwarka Shri Ramlila Society became one of India’s most celebrated Ramlilas, graced twice by Honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi, reflecting Rajesh Ji’s extraordinary contribution.

For me, Rajesh Ji was more than a friend — he was family. His guidance, care, and affection shaped countless moments in my life. Just last year in November, he attended my son Akshansh Singh Dogra’s wedding along with Pankaj Singh Ji personally offering his dignified presence, blessings, and heartfelt wishes, which I will always cherish. His support extended beyond personal ties. He championed social causes, such as supporting the Dwarka Toppers Academic Awards and the Blind Persons Association, always believing in empowering others and uplifting the community.

When I learned of his sudden demise on 14th August, it was hard to believe. Confirming the tragic news through Sanjay Mishra Ji, Sajeev Goel Ji, and his nephew Deepak Gahlot, I felt a void words cannot express. Being in Nepal, I could not attend his funeral, but the memory of his innocent, smiling face, wisdom and warmth remains vivid.

Shri Rajesh Gahlot’s life was a testament to integrity, devotion, and compassion. His actions commanded respect, his words inspired courage, and his presence brought comfort to all who knew him. Though he is no longer with us physically, his spirit lives on in the countless lives he touched. The magnitude of his popularity was evident when thousands of admirers offered tearful tributes, chanting “Rajesh Bhai Amar Rahega” while carrying his mortal remains for cremation.

His legacy is not in monuments or awards but in the love, guidance, and inspiration he left behind — a treasure that will endure for generations.

We, all his friends, well-wishers and family, can honor his memory by carrying forward his dreams and ideals. May the departed soul of Shri Rajesh Gahlot rest in eternal peace, and may his life remain a shining example of dedication, humility, and humanity. Though he is no longer visible to us, he will forever live in our hearts, our memories, and in the lives he nurtured with his extraordinary presence.
