SPACE India is organizing India’s largest student scientific solar expedition named as Heliodyssey 2019, in which budding and young astronomers of our country will be provided with an opportunity to become a part of a solar scientific expedition and to scientifically observe and record the annular solar eclipse of December 26, 2019 from India and Sultanate of Oman. Students will be working with Astronomers and scientist in study of Annular Solar Eclipse as official student scientific expedition. Through the medium of observing nature’s light show- The eclipses, the program aims to nurture the curiosity of young minds and inspiring them to choose science as a life career. The student will become part of this expedition only through online examination as it being the only criteria for selection.
The online selection examination, SPACE HeliOdyssey Test 2019 (SHOT-2019) will be conducted at National level for selection of these students contingent in two groups. Top 200 students will be selected on merit as per the selection criteria given on the website: www.heliodyssey.org/
Heliodyssey 2019 aims to observe the Annular Solar Eclipse of 26th December 2019 from Oman and Cheruvathur, Kerala. The expedition team would comprise of winners of Space HeliOdyssey Test 2019 conducted by SPACE for students of classes 6-12.
Heliodyssey registrations begin from August 7, 2019 and end on September 30, 2019 at 11:59
P.M. Curious students and budding astronomers can register for the expedition through the link provided in the website (www.heliodyssey.org/). The aspirants need to pay an application fee of Rs. 990 (non-refundable), which can be done through online mode of payment.
Scholarship for winners:
Top Rank 1-20: -100% Scholarship for a fully sponsored scientific expedition to the Sultanate of Oman
Top Rank 21-50: -100% scholarship for a fully sponsored scientific expedition to Eclipse site in India
Top Rank 51-100: -76mm telescope along with scholarship in training and education fees of the trip. (Students will have to pay for travel and lodging)
Top Rank 101-200: 50mm refractor telescope along with scholarship in training and education fees of the trip. (Students will have to pay for travel and lodging)
Apart from this a merit certificate will be given to all the top 200 selected students.
Participation certificates will be given to all the participants.
