National Book Trust, India’s Book Promotion Center in Lucknow was inaugurated on 6 September 2021 at 12:00pm. The Book Promotion Centre is located in the heart of Lucknow, at first floor Concourse Level, Vishwavidyalaya Metro Station. The BPC is adjacent to the Lucknow University campus.
The Book Promotion Center was inaugurated by Dr. Satish Chandra Dwivedi Hon’ble Minister of State (Independent Charge) Basic Education, Uttar Pradesh in the august presence of Prof. Govind Prasad Sharma, Chairman NBT, and Shri Yuvraj Malik, Director, NBT. The Guests of Honour at the event were Shri Bijay Kumar Maurya, IAS, ADG, Uttar Pradesh Police, Dr. Anita Bhatnagar Jain, IAS Ex- Principal Secretary Eductaion and Member State Tribunal, UP, Shri Kumar Keshav, Managing Director, UPMRC. Officials from Department of Women and Child Development as well as senior officials from UPMRC were also present at the inauguration.
Dr. Satish Chandra Dwivedi Hon’ble Minister of State (Independent Charge) Basic Education, Uttar Pradesh inaugurated the BPC and said that opening of the BPC will facilitate the people of Uttar Pradesh especially the young readers.
Prof. Govind Prasad Sharma, Chairman, NBT highlighted the fact that UP ranks highest in human capital and in order to shape the idea of a new India we must work on the intellectual capabilities of the youth. therefore the BPC will help in engaging them in the better pastime of reading by providing a vast collection of books and other reading material.
Shri Yuvraj Malik, Director NBT on this occasion congratulated the people of Lucknow and also thanked Shri Kumar Keshav, MD UPMRC for supporting the initiative and promoting books and reading through a campaign that is being run in collaboration to promote reading while travelling in the metro.
While informing about the various activities of NBT, he also spoke about the Prime Minister’s Mentorship Scheme for Young Writers and how the scheme will be beneficial for young and upcoming authors.
The Book Promotion Centre will be a hub of various literary activities like Readers’ corners, Authors’ Corners, Young Writers Mentorship Scheme, Panchayat Libraries, Mobile Exhibition Vans and so much more!
The BPC will house books in more than 55 Indian languages and dialects, on science, social science, art & culture, education, competitive exams, biographies, etc.
A special 10% discount will be provided on all purchases. Metro Card holders will get a 15% discount whereas NBT Book Club Members will be eligible for a special 20% discount. Visitors to the BPC can avail lifetime Book Club Membership at an offer price of Re. 1 till September 30. During Hindi Pakhwada (September 1-30) 20% discount on books in Hindi and other Indian languages will be provided.
As part of the inaugural offer book lovers will be given a special 25% discount on all NBT books from 06 September to 10 September 2021 at the BPC at Lucknow.
Writers, litterateurs, distributors and book lovers also attended the inauguration in large numbers.
