International Road Federation (IRF), a Geneva based organization working for better and safer roads worldwide is organizing a seminar on “Road Safety during dark hours” on Saturday, September 13 at India International Centre (IIC) .
“ The various experts attending the seminar to be inaugurated by Mr Vijay Chibber, Secretary, Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) will be discussing ways and means to reduce accidents at dark hours including early morning hours.” Said Mr K.K.Kapila, Chairman , International Road Federation (IRF) .
“Most of the accidents at dark hours including twilight and morning fog are attributed to lack of lights, driving or riding under influence of alcohol, higher driving speeds due to empty roads, poor road engineering , construction site non safety measures, impaired night vision etc. said Mr Kapila.
Some of the subjects that will be discussed during the seminar will include MoRTH measures to promote road safety at dark, Hazards of night driving and hazards faced by night drivers, Vehicle standards for night driving, Night time enforcement use of reflective tapes to bring in conspicuity and creating road safety environment at dark”said Mr Kapila.
Some of the speakers at the seminar will include Mr. Sanjay Bandopadhyaya, JS, MoRT&H, Prof. P.K. Sikdar, Former Director, CRRI, Smt. Debashree Mukherjee, CMD-DTC, Mr. Anil Shukla, Jt. CP, Traffic, Delhi Police and Mr. Atul Shukla, 3M.
