A Kenyan Delegation comprising 4 senior officers from the Ministry of Housing, Kenya visited Delhi Development Authority today i.e. on 09.07.2013 to study policies and programmes regarding affordable housing taken up by DDA. As per the leader of the delegation, the objective of the visit is to study the best practices in development so that the same can be adopted for formulating a housing policy and other policies for poor and underprivileged in Kenya. The delegation interacted with all the senior officers of Housing, Lands, Management, Engineering Departments of DDA etc. to ascertain the details of DDA’s system of working, various provisions in the policy, disposal modalities and also slum rehabilitation schemes etc. They were apprised in detail regarding the working of DDA in general and EWS housing, In-situ development and general housing taken up by DDA and various terms and conditions under which these houses are allotted to various sections of the society in particular.
The members of the delegation appreciated the quantum and quality of work done by DDA / the efforts to preserve greens & urban heritage. They were especially appreciative of the affordable housing initiatives and the various development works taken by DDA for improving the quality of life of average citizen of Delhi. They also appreciated the planning process and expressed that they will study and emulate the policies for reaching out to the poor of their country.
