Musical Homage to Playback Singer Mukesh on eve of his 37th Death Anniversary


In a Musical Homage Function, on playback singer Mukesh entitled “Jadu-e-Mukesh”held on the eve Mukesh’s 37th Death Anniversary in Noida’s Indira Gandhi Kala Kendra, a Hindi biography of Mukesh written by Cultural Society Sakha’s Chairman Amarjit Singh Kohli was released. The biography is titled “MUKESH- Sunhere Swar Aur Sunhere Dil Ka Maalik” and is Hindi Version of Mr Kohli’s original English book “MUKESH- Golden Voice With a Golden Heart” and was translated by journalist and writer Vinod Viplav.

The book was released by leading NRI of USA Mr Avtar Chand Verma who was author’s classfellow in college in Amritsar and had flown from USA specially for this occasion. The Function was organized jointly by Cultural Societies “Karuna Kala Kendra” founded by Karunesh Sharma, and “Sur Sampada” founded by Atul Nagpal. The highlight of program was a feast of Mukesh’s songs presented by talented singers drawn from all parts of India to the accompaniment of musicians of All Rounder Orchestra led by Harish Nadan. The program was compered by veteran compere Karunesh Sharma and youthful Kritika Kashyap jointly. The famous Kala Sagar Group presented Group Dances on Mukesh’s songs under the direction of its leader Shivani Arora. Also a solo dance by Sampada Nagpal stole the show.

Program Co-ordinator Smt Sita Rana Sharma said that this was the Ninth Musical Homage Function which are being organized in Noida by the two societies every year continuously. Mr Atul Nagpal, founder of Sur Sampada, said that the first Indian film “Raja Harish Chandra” made by Dada Sahib Phalke was released on 3rd May, 1913 at Coronation Cinema, Bombay. Therefore in continuity of 100th year of Indian Cinema, the Society will be presenting many more film-based programs till 3rd May, 2014 for which the committed organizing committee members R. Srivastav, Ajay Sareen, Atul Mangal, KP Garg, Vijay Bhalla and Vinay Sharma have already drawn a plan of actions.

Mukesh who was born on July 22, 1923 in Delhi, had died in the city of Detroit in USA on August 27, 1976. The original English Version of Mr Amarjit Singh Kohli’s book “MUKESH- Golden Voice With A Golden Heart” was released by Mukesh’s erstwhile schoolmate in Delhi’s Municipal Boys’ Higher Secondary School, Mandir Marg, New Delhi by late Mr Daljit Singh, CMD Pure Drinks Pvt Ltd, New Delhi 28 years ago on 27th August, 1985 during the third Annual Mukesh Memorial Music Competition held by Amarjit Singh Kohli at AIFACS Hall, New Delhi. Incidentally the compere at that time 28 years ago was also Mr Karunesh Sharma who is now commonly known as the Voice of City of Noida and who compered this show yesterday.
