“Photography is in our blood” Says Mihir Singh

Its true that Media without Image, is, like a body without soul. It has proved by non-other than the Young & very talented Photographer Mihir Singh. Round the clock we think & feel only about photography-Photography & Photography. That’s the spirit & effort behind him which leads him to win the most prestigious National Photo Journalism Award of India in the field of Photo Feature category.
Mihir Singh who is presently associated with Punjab Kesari-National Daily Newspaper felicitated jointly by Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley & Chairman Press Council of India Justice Chandramouli Kumar Prasad on National Press Day at National Media Centre in the Capital today. This award carrying a cash prize Rs.50,000/- & memento.

On this National Press Day, Eminent Journalist & former editor-The Hindu, N. Ram also conferred “Raja Ram Mohan Ray National Award for Excellence in Journalism which carry a cash prize Rs.1,00,000/- & Memento. Ruby Sarkar-Chief Correspondent Deshbandhu,Bhopal & Rajesh Parshuram Joshte, Daily Pudhari Ratnagiri honored with Rural Journalism Award, V.S. Rajesh Deputy Editor, Kerala Kaumudi for Development Reporting. Subhash Paul-Rashtriya, Delhi honored with Photo Journalism (Single News Picture-category) P. Narsim-Cartoon Editor-Nava Telangana honored with Best Newspaper Art Cartoons category along with Mihir.
While talking to Dwarka Parichay Media Group Mihir claims that Photography comes from his family. His father late Vijay Singh also a Wedding Photographer. His eldest brother Sujan Singh is a famous fashion Photographer who served many big Media Houses. Two more elder brothers namely Lakhpat Singh & Neeraj Singh are also very dedicated wedding Photographer.

Mihir further added that his journey of Photo Journalism started way back in 2006 with Punjab Kesari. Now, he is Chief Photographer & Accredited Photographer from DIP. Previously Mihir served Navodaya times,Punjab Kesari Jalandhar Group as a Senior Photographer from May 2013 to May 2016. And as freelance assignments for Hurmany Magazine. Mihir loves to play with lighting Presently based in New Delhi and have been travelling far and wide across India to Cover various subjects which need to be highlighted. He has covered all the major news,Sports events, and social issues which includes violent protests in support of rape victim Nirbhaya, Wills Fashion Week, Stories on condition of Border Security Force based on Ferozepur Hussainiwala Border-Punjab, Stories on Women Empowerment and Story on Extinction of Circus culture in India.Before this prestigious National award he won many awards like, Photography Competition on Beautiful India Government of India, Ministry of Communications-Department of Posts and Stamps.Awarded 1st runner up in Airtel Delhi Half Marathon 2016. Awarded Third Best entry in the Online Photography Competition for Voters’ 2016 Organised by Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Delhi. Won two consolation awards in Picture Perfect Delhi -2012,Govt. of NCT Delhi.

Its his passion to expose different clicks particularly focusing on army based camps Firozpur, Punjab & Jaisalmer,Rajasthan. According to Mihir-Photography has become a profession for him but he always take it as passion. He further proudly reveals that if you fascinate to Photography then it continues with you throughout your life.


According to Mihir, Photography with passion always keep you ahead- his fellow photographers Srikant Singh & Deepak are the living examples, he claims. I am sure, Hard work & passion towards your efforts bring good results in everyone’s life. Mihir concludes with this sentence that Photography is in our blood.
