Dehradun: Tula’s Institute hosted an interaction between the students and stars from the television and film industry. Personalities such as Gyan Sahay, Ramesh Sippy, Kiran Juneja, Surendra Pal, Rajendra Gupta, Vivek Vaswani, Prabhakar Sharan, Devendra Bhojani, Paresh Ganatra and Sharman Joshi.
A workshop for film enthusiasts was also organized in the institute. Various stars joined in the workshop and gave useful tips and information to the students. Various movies were also screened which were appreciated by the students.
The program commenced with a session by Cinematographer Gyan Sahay who has worked in films like Kalyug and Akrosh. He was also a part of serials such as ‘Sarabhai Vs Sarabahi. Surendra Pal who made his debut with the iconic character of Dronacharya in year 1988 also held a session with the students. He spoke about 30 years of his career in the Indian television. He said that he has had the privilege of working across several genres and that too without any reputation.
This was followed by a much-awaited session by Indian film Director and Producer, best known for directing the popular film Sholay Ramesh Sippy. He in his session praised the artists of Uttarakhand and said that a lot of people from the state are already working in the film industry.
He shared with the audience, anecdotes of his cult classic movie Sholay. He further said that the direction of the film wouldn’t have been possible without the screenwriting by the famous duo Salim-Javed.
Veteran Indian Actress Kiran Juneja of Jab We Met fame spoke about her acting school. She said that she is excited about it and is giving it all her time.
Later during the day, Indian film, television, theatre Actor and Director Rajendra Gupta of Tanu Weds Manu fame spoke about the essence of acting. He threw light on what it takes to be a good performer and how an actor is different from a star.
Vivek Vaswani an Actor, Writer and Producer known for having launched Shahrukh Khan held a session on what it takes to sell a movie. He said the film stars are responsible for economics of film and not performance. He further added that movie making and being an actor is business and requires training.
He asserted that failure comes from three words which are ‘I don’t know’.
Students enjoyed session by Comedian Khayali Sharan, Deven Bhojani and Paresh Ganatra. They made the students laughed and added life to the sessions.
Prabhakar Saran who works in Latin American films also gave a talk to students about the working culture overseas.
The students expressed their excitement on meeting Indian film and theatre actor Sharman Joshi who is best known for his films like 3 Idiots, Hate Story 3, Rang De Basanti, Golmaal etc. They got photos clicked with him and also got autographs signed.
Present on the occasion were Chairman Tula’s Group Sunil Kumar Jain, Secretary Sangeeta Jain, Executive Director Silky Jain, Vice President Raunak Jain, Vice President Technology Raghav Garg, Registrar Tula’s Institute Pawan Kumar Chaubey and Director DIFF Rajesh Sharma.
