A court is a government institution with the authority to settle legal disputes between parties and carry out justice in civil, criminal and administrative matters. The system of courts interprets and applies the law. Therefore, the students of class VIII of Sachdeva Global School were taken to the District court of Dwarka to provide them with some basic understanding of court functioning. This gave them an opportunity to witness the court proceedings and to interact with Legal Department Judges. Students went to the MCD court, Mahila court, Family court and various other courts to gain first hand experience of the court hearings and procedures.
Students also got to know about the ‘Mediation Cell’ and appreciated it, as a time saving and better instrument to solve out disputes. A question-answer session was also organised in the conference hall of the court in which Mr.Gupta, Legal Secretary Dwarka Court and a senior judge, solved various queries of the students. Students participated in an enthusiastic manner. By the end of the session, students were provided with the information about POCSO(Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act),2012. It was a brainstorming session where students learnt a lot of things.
