By the grace of Lord Ayyappa, Sree Ayyappa Sewa Samithi, Dwarka (Regd) celebrated it’s 4th Annual Ayyappa Pooja as AYYAPPAN VILAKKU this year on Saturday the 22nd Nov’14 at DDA Ground (Between DDA Sports Complex & NSS Building) Sector:11 , Dwarka, New Delhi 75. This is the first time AYYAPAN VILAKKU being performed in Dwarka.
The main part of the temple is made with banana stumps, bamboo is used to link the stumps, and the fronds are used to decorate the temple. Banana is considered an emblem of prosperity and fertility and is used in almost all temple festivals.On the right side of the temple, Malikapuram is installed, on the left side it is Vavar Swamy, and in one corner, the kannimoola, a Ganapathy temple is built,
The Ayyappan Vilakku is conducted the whole night with various rituals and pujas in a specially constructed and decorated ‘mandapam.’ Special pujas are conducted for Lord Ayyappa. The pujas are conducted in traditional style, without compromising on any aspect, Traditional Ayyappan Pattu (‘keertanams’) is an integral part of the Vilakku.
The function started at 5.30 A.M. by Maha Ganapathi Homam followed by Prathishta with Udukku Pattu (Ayyappan Pattu) thereafter Laghu Bakshanam at 8.30 A.M. after that at 11:00 A.M. Ucha Pooja with Chendamelam, Kadukkam Kunne (Palakkad) Unnikrishnan & Party, thereafter Annadanam (Bhandara) at 12:30 noon.
From 5:00 P.M. onwards the procession started from SRI RAM MANDIR, Sec:7 with PALAKOMBU EZHUNALLIPU to the accompaniment of Caparisoned elephant, Velichapad (Komaram). It was followed by PALKKINDI EZHUNALLIPPU, Thalapoli and Chendamelam. Thalapoli started from Sri Ram Mandir and reached the venue via Siddharth Kunj Apartment, Rampal Chowk, Gayatri Apartment, Thiruvizha Apartment etc. etc. During the procession Parayideel Vazhipadu arrangements were made. After reaching the venue Deeparadhana (Maha Aarati) followed by Fire Works at 8.30 P.M.
From 8.45 P.M. Athazha Pooja with Thayambaka by Palakkad Unnikrishnan & party followed by Laghu Bakshanam at 9:00 P.M. Later in the night from 9.30 P.M. onwards Ayyappan Pattu by Dharmashastha Ayyappan Vilakku Sangam, Palakkad. At 11:00 P.M. Ayyappan Jananam (The birth of Ayyappa) Pantham Uzhichal, Vettum Thadayum (The play of Ayyappan & Vavar, A story and a skit was organized by the Team – MUKUNDA GURU SWAMY, KALLEKULANGARA, PALAKKAD.
The Ayyappan vilakku ended by 1.30 A.M. (23/11/14) followed by fire works and later distributed Prasadam to all devotees. More than 1000 devotees participated in the Ayyappan Vilakku both morning and in the evening and it was a great success.
