“ Delhi has become one of the most polluted cities in the world and is the most polluted city in India. It is having serious effect on the health of the citizens of Delhi. Conflicting opinions have been expressed by several groups including many NGO’s, WHO, US embassy on status of Air Quality. MOEF, Delhi govt., CPCB, IIT, Transport Deptt. have also expressed concerns & given their views. However, inspite of all this No concrete & practical action plan has come up to improve Air Quality at Delhi. Air pollution Experts attending the meet will try to formulate short term as well as long term policy and solutions to improve the qir”said Mr Shyam Gupta, Secretary, Delhi Chapter , IAAPC .
“Eminent experts including Prof. J. M. Dave-Internationally well known Air Quality Expert, Prof. G. D. Agarwal- India’s best Environmental Scientist, Dr. B. Sengupta- Fomer Member Secretary CPCB, Prof. Mukesh Sharma- Architect of Air Quality Index recently launched by Govt. of India, Prof. C. K. Varshney- Well known Ecologiost, Dr. D. Saha- Head of Air Quality lab CPCB, Dunu Roy & Sagar Dhara- Social Scientists, Rakesh Agarwal, Dr. Rajendra Prasad are expected to participate. At the end of the conclave, IAAPC proposes to prepare a “Practical Action Plan” for submitting to Hon’ble NGT, CM of Delhi & Hon’ble Minister of Environment, Forest & Climate Change & engage into a constant dialogue with them to offer help of this learned Indian Scientific Community to tackle this issue. “ said Mr Gupta.
