Running to make a difference, for a noble cause, to help save the environment
Apeejay Education Society today organized Mini Marathon at Dwarka to create the necessary awareness and responsibility of safeguarding the environment.
The theme of this year’s marathon was ‘Recycling Plastic Bags’. The aim of the marathon was to bring awareness to the community particularly the residents of Dwarka about a clean, healthy and green environment and propagate the message of Refuse, Reduce and Reuse the poly bags.
The marathon was flagged off by Padma Bhushan Mr. Jasdev Singh, well known broadcaster and author. Hundreds of students, faculty and staff of Apeejay School of Management and Apeejay Institute of Mass Communication and also the residents of the Dwarka housing societies participated in the 6.5 kilometer long Marathon. The event was sponsored by well known brands like Pepsi, Bebe and Oriflame.
Addressing the participants, Mr. Singh highlighted the need for creating environment awareness through events such as Marathon. He appreciated the efforts of the Apeejay Institutes who have been pioneer in organizing such functions regularly as part of their social commitment towards the society. The participants expressed the hope that as part of this initiative will help to make Dwarka a model green, clean and healthy sub-city in the entire NCR.
The winner, Mr. Arjun Singh Sisodia was awarded a cash prize of Rs. 5000/- , the second runner-up, Mr. Chitranjan was given Rs. 3000/- and the third runner-up, Mr. Ranjan Mishra was given Rs. 2000/- each. For all senior citizens that participated were rewarded Rs. 1000/- and attractive vouchers each.
Both Apeejay School of Management and Apeejay Institute of Mass Communication are part of the reputed Apeejay Education Society that manages 28 schools and institutes across the country.
