The 92nd birth anniversary of eminent educationist, entrepreneur and freedom fighter Late Dr. Stya Paul was celebrated on Tuesday, the 4th
October, 2011 at Sirifort Auditorium. Eminent artist Mr. Shekhar Sen gave a
tribute to Dr. Stya Paul by performing in a monologue play on Swami
Vivekananda – a great saint and philosopher who inspired Dr. Stya Paul in his life’s journey.
Among the eminent dignitaries present on the occasion were
Shahnawaz Hussain, spokesperson of Bhartiya Janta Party, Raghupati
Singhania, Vice Chairman & Managing Director, JK Tyre &
Industries Limited and Nalini Singh, eminent journalist along with the
late educationist’s family members including his wife Mrs. Rajeshwari Paul,
daughter Sushma Berlia, son-in-law Vijay Berlia, grandson and grand
daughter-in-law Nishant Berlia and Nisha Berlia and grand children Aditya
Berlia and Neha Berlia.

Speaking on the occasion, Mrs. Sushma Berlia, President Apeejay
Stya Group & Svran Group said, “My father was way ahead of his time and
was an ardent hard worker. He fought in the Quit India movement and was jailed.
That showed his loyalty to the nation. For him work was worship. He was a man
who spoke less and worked more.”

Notably, Late Dr. Stya Paul was conferred the Udyog Ratan Award by the Government of Punjab and PHDCCI, in recognition of his contribution to
Industry and Education, and Punjab’s economical development in particular.
Besides establishing Apeejay Stya Group, Dr. Stya Paul also established Apeejay Education Society, which runs many schools and institutes of higher learning across India. He is also founded Apeejay Stya University in Gurgaon, Haryana-a global university with innovative academic system. Dr. Stya Paul is also the elder brother of London based NRI industrialist Lord Swaraj Paul. He was deeply inspired by Swami Vivekanand and his teachings of universal brotherhood and his
family thought that it would be a fitting tribute to commemorate the educationist’s 92nd birth anniversary by enacting a play on the life
and times of the saint which coincided with the 150th birth
anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. The two hour monologue play by artist Shekhar Sen left the high-profile audience spell-bound.
