Consulting Engineers Association of India (CEI) an apex body of consulting engineers in the country is organising a webinar on Asset Management, The need of the Hour ‘on Thursday November 19, 2020 as part of its diamond jubilee celebrations.
“Asset management has generally been associated with financial management but however realisation dawned that it really starts with physical asset per se and also the systems and processes involved with an asset created to fulfil and perform functions and provide specific facilities. The state of un-kept and ill-maintained assets is costing the country dearly and is borne by the public. There is an urgent need to bring greater awareness amongst all those involved in managing assets and to promote the adoption of international standards and best practices in India. These assets which include the fixed as well as the movable assets such as plant & equipment together with the system and processed involved are vital for the socio-economic development of any nation. “ said Mr Amitabha Ghosal, President, Consulting Engineers Association of India (CEAI)
The International Standards Organization (ISO) released ISO 55000 family of standards in 2014 to give guidance on asset management best practices. It is a collaborative effort of 36 countries, including India. It focuses on helping to develop a proactive lifecycle asset management system. It thus supports optimization of asset and reduces the overall cost of ownership while helping to meet the necessary performance and safety requirements. The incorporation of a chapter on Asset Management in National Building Code of India 2016 gives a much need impetus to proper maintenance of buildings. “ said Mr Ghosal
Some of the subjects that will be discussed at the webinar being organised by Eastern and North Eastern Centre of CEAI will include Importance of Asset Management, Engineering Asset Management an Challenge’s, Integrity Management Issues and Digital Technologies and highway asset management.
