R.D. Bhardwaj “Noorpuri”
The Union Budget presented by the Finance Minister for the FY 2011-12 has not relieved any tension and burden of the salaried class, and as such, it came as a blow to them. In the days of such a high rise inflation, merely raising the exemption limit by just Rs. 20,000/- for men has left them high and dry, while even the similar meagre relief (which was provided by Dr. Manmohan Singh around 10/12 years ago when he was Union Finance Minister) has been denied to the women employees. Thus, the Finance Minister has not done any justice to them either. Therefore, he is requested to please think it over again and increase the exemption limit to a reasonable level of Rs. 2.00 lakhs for men and Rs. 2.25 lakhs for women, so that they are left with better disposable financial position and to provide quality education to their children and also manage their family budget somewhat nicely, though even then, not at par with business class.
Not only that, the Finance Minister is also requested to please rationalise the tax slabs moderately to 8 % for the income upto Rs. 5.00 lakhs, 16 % for the income beyond Rs. 5.00 lakhs and upto Rs. 10.00 lakhs and 25 % for the income above Rs. 10.00 lakhs, so as to enable them to construct or purchase a house of their own. Please note that this class of honest tax-payers deserves to be treated in a better manner and I hope, dear FM will certainly look into this aspect and ameliorate their financial problems. Please also note that this is all the more required if the Govts. really wants to minimise corruption amongst the government servants.
