Guadalajara International Book Fair of Mexico is the largest book fair in the Spanish speaking world. We are proud to inform that India is going to be the guest of Honor Country in the 2019 edition of the 33rd Feria Internacional del Libro de Guadalajara,(FIL) to be held from Nov 30 to Dec 8, 2019. It was announced in a Press Conference jointly organised by Prof. Govind Prasad Sharma, Chairman, National Book Trust, India and Ambassador of India in Mexico, Sh. Muktesh K. Pardeshi in the Embassy of India, Mexico City.
With over 35 authors, 15 publishing houses led by National Book Trust of India; literary and academic activities consisting of conferences, publishers’ round table, discussions and presentations; 3 large exhibitions consisting of ancient and rare manuscripts, photo books, wall hangings on handicrafts and painting and modern art by 40 renowned women artistes of India and a Festival of India consisting of extensive cultural programme that will include 10 concerts – folk, classical and contemporary; an artistic tribute to Indian literature; India will display a wide array of its rich
India’s participation at FIL will also include a film festival, comprising of Indian feature films’ and those based on pure sciences; a food festival; street shows at various venues across Guadalajara and Casa de la India, a cultural hub of Indian food, handicrafts and artefacts, for sale and display.
The NBT, India is mobilising the participation of 15-20 publishing houses from various Indian languages. We are expecting a showcase and sale of nearly 1500-2000 titles.
