RWA met with Deputy Commissioner, SDMC for solutions to various problems of the sub-city

A delegation of Residents Welfare Association ( Regd ), Sector-8 Dwark, New Delhi led by Sardar Arvinder Singh Chhatwal, Secretary of the association met Ms Garima Gupta ( IAS ), Deputy Commissioner, Najafgarh Zone, South Delhi Municipal Corporation on Thursday, the 23rd July, 2015 at her Office to discuss the sanitary and garbage issues of the area.

The matter regarding removal of garbage from the road side Berms, footpaths and door to door collection of garbage was discussed in details. Sh Chhatwal requested Deputy Commissioner to increase the strength of Safai Karamcharis and provide more dustbins for garbage collection.

Shri C S Solanki requested Deputy Commissioner to vacate the plot (opposite Mother Dairy) being used by SDMC for last around 10 years in Sector-8 Dwarka and hand over to Delhi Development Authority for construction of Local Shopping Centre.

Sh Chhatwal informed the DC that at the time of handing over/ taking over the charge between DDA and MCD on 21-4-2005, the said plot measuring 2300 sqm was allotted to MCD for parking of Refuse Collector-cum- Bin Lifters for one year on purely temporary basis. It is a matter of concern that even nine years after expiry of the term, the said plot is still used by CSE and Malaria departments of SDMC.

It was also informed to Deputy Commissioner that large number of Broken and old Dustbins (full of garbage and rain water) are dumped by SDMC on the said site. One can see several heaps of garbage, cow dung and construction waste scattered every where on the site in the premises of SDMC Office. Sh Chhatwal also shown some photographs taken from the site to the Deputy Commissioner.

Sh Solanki informed DC that under the circumstances, the area residents are bound to live in such unhealthy/ unhygienic circumstances.

After detailed discussions Deputy Commissioner has very kindly agreed to visit the area along with the concerned officers very soon to assess the ground reality. She also assured to solve the problems of the area on priority.
