SPEFL-SCL TO OPEN 100 FITNESS SKILL TRAINING CENTRES BY END OF YEAR 2019

Sports, Physical Education, Fitness and Leisure Skills Council (SPEFL-SCL) Promoted by Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and FICCI; has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Register For Exercise Professionals India Foundation (REPS INDIA) – a non-profit company which was formally launched here today.
This MoU will facilitate a partnership between SPEFL-SC and REPS India to henceforth enable qualified Indian fitness professionals get employed at lucrative salaries in developed countries outside India. REPS India will be associating itself with The International Confederation of Registers for Exercise Professionals – (ICREPs) an international partnership between registration bodies around the world that register exercise professionals.

: “It is widely estimated that by 2020, India will be the world’s youngest country with an average age of 29 years per citizen. Thus signing a MoU with REPS India is an historic step towards promoting young and qualified Indian fitness trainers across the globe. The entry of Reps in India will further strengthen our ongoing ‘Skill India’ initiatives as we have planned to open 100 skill centres across India by December 2019.” Said, Tahsin Zahid, COO, SPEFL-SCL, while launching REPS India here today.

“The SPEFL-SCL, by the year 2024 will be imparting skill training to about 2.1 million youth in the country as maximum demand is coming from the fitness industry from the country for certified trainers. Our tie up with REP India will help us do the needful “Said, Tahsin Zahid

“ICREPS has achieved international standardization in the fitness industry of its Eight member nations including United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, UAE , New Zealand and South Africa. The launch of REPS India as the 9th member nation has been duly embraced and endorsed by the SPEFL-SSC to facilitate the portability of Indian fitness professionals, which have earned their certification from REPS accredited Indian training providers. This is a great move by the SPEFL-SSC in the interest of providing global job opportunities to Indian youth keen to opt for a rewarding career in the fitness industry.” said Kaizzad Capadia, Senior Vice President, Governing Council, SPEFL-SCL while speaking on the occasion .

While India currently struggles with a burgeoning population of skilled youth, many developed countries today face a shortage of working-age people. While the requirement for skilled workers in these markets is increasing, the availability of skilled people simply isn’t keeping pace. In such a scenario, the launch of Reps India through backing of SPEFL-SCL will nurture human resources in India to meet the rising demand of qualified fitness professionals globally.
