Promoting Martial Arts training in school, Sri Venkateshwar international School, Sector-18, Dwarka, New Delhi organized an Olympic level live display cum training of Extreme Taekwondo by the Kukkiwon Taekwondo National team of South Korea.
More than 1500 students, parents, coaches and Principals of other schools witnessed the ceremony in school grounds on December 27, 2014. It also marked a new chapter in Indo-Korean solidarity that the school enjoys though the regular visits of officials of the Taekwondo Foundation of South Korea and India.
Mr Lee Keun Chang reiterated that taekwondo is not only a self defence technique but is a way of life. The members enthralled the audience by their amazing and artistic martial arts skills. The synchronous stances and wood breaking in air to the sounds of music, followed by depiction of self defence in a musical story took the audience to another level. Taekwondo can be roughly translated as “the way of striking with foot and fist.” It is an excellent form of self-defence and is more than just a way to defend yourself. It involves self-control, respect for others, and other ethical and philosophical values.
School Chairman Mr Sailander Solanki and Principal Mrs Nita Arora were felicitated in recognition of their outstanding contribution and dedicated service to the development of Taekwondo and its culture.
