Meeting with Mr. Chahar, Director, Horticulture to resolve
Horticultural Issue of parks in Sector 23 and other sectors of Dwarka |
The residents updated the DDA about the problems faced due to poor maintenance of the parks in and around Sector 23 and lack of upkeep of the plant-life in these parks due to the DDA’s failure to pass tenders. Residents were left to resort to bringing water in bottles from home or buying water tanks in order to ensure that plants were being watered. For example, due to the lack of a mali, morning walkers regularly water plants in Park No.4. Despite these efforts from residents, more than half the plants in these parks have died.
There were initially 3 borwells – an old one that does not work, and 2 new ones that do not yet have pumps attached – which remained out of operation. Mrs. Cicily Kodiyan, President, ANHLGT informed DDA that it was only through the persuasion of ANHLGT that the required pumps were fixed and water is now flowing through these borwells.
Mr. Chahar and his team visited the parks and sympathetically listened to the grievances of the residents and assured them that the parks would be looked after well. He provided guidance and instructions to his assistant and staff regarding the proper maintenance of these parks. He also visited Park No. 5, which has been designated as a playground, and assured the residents that all the necessary steps would be taken to make it ready in time.
