Age Well Association, Dwarka, in association with Max Super Speciality Hospital, Dwarka, organised a medical talk on 9th May 2026 at the hospital’s conference hall.
The session featured two lectures.
Dr Pratibha Dhiman, Senior Consultant, BMT & Haemato-Oncology, spoke on the diagnosis, detection, and treatment of Thalassemia — a genetic blood disorder affecting haemoglobin production. She explained that Thalassemia is inherited from parents and is not caused by infection or poor diet. Key symptoms include destruction of red blood cells and low haemoglobin, leading to anaemia, weakness, and reduced oxygen supply to the body. Dr Dhiman also outlined precautions, medication options, and preventive measures for carriers and patients.
The second lecture was delivered by Dr Ankit Tuteja, Senior Consultant, Internal Medicine, on General Health Tips for Senior Citizens. Addressing an audience of mostly senior citizens, he recommended 150–300 minutes of aerobic activity per week, balanced nutrition, mental and cognitive wellness, adequate sleep, and proper hydration. He stressed the importance of regular vision and hearing checks and warned that loneliness can pose a greater health risk than obesity. Dr Tuteja urged seniors not to skip their annual health check-ups and to discuss all health concerns with their doctors, however minor.
Both speakers addressed questions from participants at the end of their respective sessions. The health talk was organised specifically to help senior citizens stay informed and take proactive care of their well-being.
Mr I M Khanna, President, Age Well Association, thanked the doctors, the hospital management, and the audience of over 65 attendees for the house-full session. Lunch was served after the programme.
