On the lovely morning of June 30, 2017, many students of class X and XII woke up to the echo of above quote in their hearts. Truly, the day belonged to them! Their success, their hard work, their skills, their uniqueness was going to be appreciated amidst an august gathering, comprising their parents, their mentors and their fellow mates.
The Senior Wing of Sri VIS, Dwarka celebrated the’ Appreciation Day’ to honour the students of classes IX & XI for their varied achievements during the session 2016-17. The programme was held in the school auditorium, which saw the presence of proud parents of all the award winners. A great visionary and the guiding force, School Chairman, Mr Sailander Solanki was the Guest of Honour.
The festivity began with the Welcome of the guests by a floral accord, followed by the tradition of Lamp Lighting and the presentation of a Welcome Address by the School Principal. In her address, the Principal Mrs Nita Arora urged the parents to encourage their children to be independent and achieve their targets without external support. To the winners, she appealed to be humble and take criticism in good spirit.
A ‘jugalbandi’, the fusion of Classical and Western music with both instrumental and vocals based on ‘Raga Puriya Dhanashri’, mesmerized the entire audience. A Mock MUN session was presented by SVIS MUN Society which highlighted the fact that young citizens are equally sensitive about the ongoing global crises. The guests were also apprised of the achievements of the MUN Society through a PowerPoint Presentation.
The young achievers were given the awards for Academic Excellence under the categories of Top three Rank holders of each class, School Scholars and Toppers in specific subjects. For co-scholastic achievements, the awards were given away for Excellence in Performing Arts, Oratory Skills and Innovative Hands categories. Award holders were felicitated by the School Chairman and School Principal with trophies, Appreciation Certificates and books. Sr. Headmistress, Ms R. Banopreeya congratulated the gratified parents and blessed all the students for touching more milestones of success in the years to come.
School Head Girl, Dyutita Ajith proposed the vote of thanks. The day culminated with the rendition of National Anthem. The enthusiasm of young award winners and the sense of pride on the faces of their parents proved that appreciation can make a day and even change a life.
