BAL KALA UTSAV 2013 hosted by SUNAINA

A three-day cultural extravaganza, Bal Kala Utsav, a national children’s festival of Indian dance, drama and music was successfully hosted by SUNAINA, Society for the Upliftment of National Arts of India, in collaboration with Delhi Tamil Sangam, with a participation of over 800 children from 12 Indian states.
Organized by Guru Smt Kanaka Sudhakar, President SUNAINA, Bal Kala Utsav was inaugurated by Shri Mukundan, General Secretary Delhi Tamil Sangam on 8th November 2013. On this auspicious occasion, Guru Kanaka Sudhakar also launched two DVDs, Nrittam and Yogic Aerobics, to promote and generate funds for Budding Blossoms, a non-profit academic school. The DVDs were released by Shri Ravindra Jain, renowned musician, lyricist and singer and Padmabhushan Smt Saroja Vaidyanathan, Bharatanatyam Guru and exponent.
The festival showcased hundreds of performances by talented children from all over the country. At the end of this festival, SUNAINA hosted a grand prize distribution ceremony which was attended by esteemed personalities like Smt Jayaprabha Menon, Mohiniattam exponent, and Shri Rajendran Pillai, Kathakali exponent. Dignitaries awarded more than a hundred national prizes to the winners of Bal Kala Utsav in Bharatanatyam, Odissi, Kathak, Kuchipudi, Folk, Semi-Classical, Instrumental and Vocal categories.

Special National Awards of Narthana Mani and Sangeet Mani were presented to Sadhvi Sundaresan and Akshita Pillai, and Anant Vyom Sharma who are extremely talented children in Bharatanatyam and Tabla respectively.

The Star Performer of the Bal Kala Utsav was eight year old Jyotsna, who performed the Ganesh Stuti. She was conferred a Special Award for her outstanding performance.
