DDA- WHETHER 1700 APPLICANTS WERE NOT INCLUDED IN DRAW?

M.K. Gupta

Applying for a flat has proved a nightmare for those applicants who the DDA suspected of submitting multiple applications but they have really submitted only one application. One such applicant Amit Gupta (Form No. 229652) of Dwarka asked the DDA by filing RTI application on 18th April, 2009 to inform about the number of applicants identified of submitting only one application and whether their names were included in the draw. On not receiving any reply, he has lodged a complaint to the Central Information Commission (CIC) on 6.5.09 requesting for an urgent hearing. DDA has not intimated the findings of the inquiry either to the doubtful applicants or to the media so far. According to the reliable sources, after the inquiry by the DDA, it has been found that 1700 applicants have submitted only one application. DDA’s silence over this is strengthening the doubt that that their names were not included in the draw and thus such applicants have been penalized before ascertaining the facts.
To increase misery, DDA has deducted the penalty of Rs 5000 from the refund of registration money of Amit without proving that he submitted multiple applications, despite repeated requests. He, on 16th May, 09, asked the DDA to inform the basis of deducting Rs 5000 instead of giving interest on the registration money in terms of condition mentioned at serial number 10 of the scheme booklet. On not receiving any reply, he filed an appeal cum complaint to the CIC on 10th July, 2009.
