Eco revolution begins with ‘Ecorun’

Greenlco Eco Foundation organized ECORUN, the first ever run for environment on 2nd October, 2014. The campaign, care for Delhi air’s STOP logo (Stand To Oppose Pollution) was launched on 5th June 2014, Environment Day at the Press Club of India. The fight against air pollution began after Delhi, was declared the most polluted city in the world earlier this year.

Since then the organisation has been conducting public awareness programmes in various parts of Delhi, sensitizing people about cleanliness, causes and effects of air pollution. These programmes are highly appreciated for their ability to connect with the masses.

ECORUN aimed to create awareness about air pollution and the rate at which it increases during Diwali every year. An appeal to keep the air free of crackers light diyas and enjoy the spirit of Diwali, was made. Around 400 people, including school children and the general public gathered on this special platform to raise their voice for the cause. More than 1500 plants were given away by the Parks and Gardens Society , NCT, Delhi.

St Gregorios, Delhi International, SAM International School and St. Mary’s School participated in the run. St Mary’s School , Dwarka staged a street play on the need for cleanliness. They also brought their popular ‘Ecotrain’, is a major hit in the schools in and around Dwarka. The prizes for the quiz on environment were sponsored by Goyalsons.The support from the people was overwhelming. Balloons were released into the air with messages in support of ‘Swachh Bharat, Swasth Bharat’ and to fight air pollution.
