Independence Day celebrated at “Vivekdeep”

Independence Day was celebrated with patriotic fervor by the students and teachers of Vivekdeep at plot no. 199, Matiyala, Sec.3, Dwarka. After the flag hoisting by Mr. Ashamanja Bhattacharyya, President, Mr. Arun Dey, Managing Trustee elaborated the importance of the day and the struggle our leaders had undergone to achieve freedom for our country. Then the stage was set free for the students. After the group song by the students, each one of them presented his creative avatar in the form of drawing or patriotic song or poem. The presenters’ enthusiasm moved the audience and all of them received ‘Token of Appreciation’.

Then the parents spoke passionately about the conspicuous positive change they noticed in their children since they joined Vivekdeep 4 months back. Thereafter, Mr. Rajib Roy, Vice President emphasized the need of moral values in our life while beautifully explaining the purpose of Vivekdeep. He urged the students, parents, guests and all concerned to extend their cooperation so that many such Vivekdeep can be formed, which is the requirement of present day society. Around 60 people attended this function. Refreshment was served to all at the end.

‘Vivekdeep’ is a value based initiative for under privileged children run by Sri Ramakrishna Sangha. Sri Ramakrishna Sangha is a registered body which has been conducting many socio-religious activities for past 11 years for the residents of Dwarka. Its yearly Ramacharitmanas Pravachan Srinkhala is a hugely popular program that draws audience from far and near.

Vivekdeep has been started in April 2014 with 25 children of under privileged category with the objective to instill human values in the form of self-confidence and compassion. Daily 1 hr class is conducted on Life Skills, at the end of which milk and fruit is given to each student. Regular medical check-up is also done for the students. In this short span it has shown remarkable impact and people from various walks of life are eager to join this unique movement.
