The National Book Trust, India is participating in the Frankfurt Book Fair 2018 (10 to 14 October 2018) with a collective book exhibit of about 300 titles representing the works of about 40 Indian publishers. The Fair, which is considered to be the biggest get together of the publishing and intellectual community of the globe, provides an important window to the publishers from India, in general, and to the National Book Trust, India, in particular, in furthering our objectives of promoting Indian books abroad and representing the Indian publishing industry; as well as for promoting our prestigious event – the New Delhi World Book Fair, which is the largest in the Afro-Asian region.
This year at FBF 2018 is a celebration of 25 years of NBT India at Frankfurt book fair. The NBT stall is being visited by a number of publishers, trade visitors and dignitaries. The display of books in English and Hindi, in the aesthetically designed stall, and covering a wide range of subjects and interest areas is attracting people in large numbers to it.
One of the insights that one can get from the Fair is that that while there is a lot of interest in Indian books on spiritualism, yoga and self-help books, memoirs, autobiographies, and travelogues, the NBT India stall is receiving many enquiries from the international publishers and Rights agents, which indicates a greater desire of the readers to read and learn about life and times of the successful personalities of our times. Similarly literature for the children and the young adults is another area that is in great demand.
The National Book Trust, India under the chairmanship of Dr Baldeo Bhai Sharma is working tirelessly in its goal towards promoting Indian books in India and abroad.
