The Parkash Utsav marks the birth anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji, the founder of Sikhism. This is one of the most sacred festival of Sikhs. Guru Nanak Dev ji was born in the village Rai-Bhoi-di-Talwandi (now called Nankana Sahib), near Lahore, Pakistan in 1469.
Sahib Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji showed us the path of peace and harmony. His message of devotion to God and excellence of conduct can help us in transforming the society, said Sardar Arvinder Singh Chhatwal, Secretary Dwarka Sikh Forum.
In Dwarka Sub city, the Gurupurab was celebrated at Gurudwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha, Sector-11 Dwarka with great fervor and enthusiasm. Large number of Dwarka residents from different religions visited the Holy Gurudwara Sahib to pay the homage to the Guru. The celebration began with the Parkash of Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji in the main hall (1st floor) followed by Kirtan of Dwarka Sangat. Thereafter, Bhai Ravinder Singh ji, Hazoori Raagi, Sri Durban Sahib, Amritsar, Punjab recited the Gurbani Kirtan and share the teachings of the Guru Sahib with the Sangat. After the Ardass (prayer) the free meals were served to one and all, said Sardar Tarlochan Singh Matta, Joint Secretary, Gurudwara Committee.
According to Sardar P.S Bhatia, the Gurudwara Committee has also organized a religious procession (Nagar Kirtan) led by the Punj Pyaras and the Holy Palki of Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji on Sunday the 2nd December 2012 which will be routed through different sectors of Dwarka Sub city.
